It might be a few days after the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Invasions of Normandy, but in no way does the belated delivery of this powerful photo series diminish its impact.

Photographed by Robin Savage, The Last of The Liberators is a collection of portraits of the last British D-Day veterans. But what makes these portraits special isn't just the people photographed, but they places they were photographed in.

Photographer Jack Salzke is on a mission. By drawing on years of experience in the fashion and modeling world, Salzke wants to show the world that, while Photoshop and extreme make-up is an issue in the industry, it’s not as prevalent as the media makes it out to be.

He wants to show the world that the models being used for this sort of imagery are often just as beautiful without the makeup as they are with it, and he's planning to show this beauty off in a 100-photo book of real models, photographed without any makeup or Photoshop.

It's not unusual for still photographers to dabble in videography at some point in their career. With almost every high-end camera on the market capable of shooting HD video almost as well as it can capture stills, the potential is just teasing still photographers to jump into the motion picture realm.

Almost a year to date after iOS 7 was announced and released to developers, GoPro has finally given its GoPro iOS app a visual makeover, ditching the clunky, old design that the app has sported for quite some time.

Word on the street -- this particular street being Northlight Images -- is that Canon pro dealers in Germany are getting invites for events in July to prepare for a particular announcement in August. And while this isn’t anything out of the ordinary, the fact that pro dealers are involved at such a level means that some sort of prosumer DSLR announcement, as well as some possible lens updates, are very likely on the docket.

When you combine that with reports that the 7D will no longer be available from dealers starting in July, it’s easy to conclude that the long-awaited 7DMII might be making an August appearance.

While taking her usual walk along the water on Cardiff State Beach, California resident Marian Rogers came across a waterproof camera, still intact, and whose memory card still held the images of what appears to be newlyweds. A camera she is trying her best to reunite with its former owners.

In their seemingly never-ending effort to amaze us mere mortals, NASA has released yet another jaw-dropping Ultra Deep Field image. The above image is a composite created from only the best of the images captured between 2003–2012 by the cameras aboard the Hubble Space Telescope.

Created by photographer Ignacio Ferrando, the video was made by rigging together six GoPro cameras then using the video-stitching software VideoStitch to produce a stomach-turning adventure: a little planet-style roller coaster ride.

Following hot on the heels of a report that claimed Leica is looking to launch a cloud storage service, Canon has opened up Irista, a cloud-based photo storage solution of its own. Originally released in beta a few years ago under the unusual name Project 1709, the now-public service offers photographers a way to store, organize and share images in the cloud.

All photographs show a moment that is already gone, but the image you see above is unlike any other, because, while recently captured, it shows a cosmic explosion that took place approximately 12.1 billion years ago.

Yesterday evening, Pye Jirsa over on SLR Lounge shared an interesting and informative video about how he’s managed to incorporate a small army of LED camping lights into his photography workflow to great effect.

It’s been just over three decades since the passing of Ansel Adams, but his legacy lives on in the hearts and minds (and on many of the walls) of those he inspired. One of those people, noted National Geographic photographer Peter Essick, decided to pay tribute to the renowned Group f/64 master.

In an effort to increase ticket sales and get fans more involved, Purdue University has announced that they will be designing a new helmet for the football team that involves crowd-sourcing photos of fans to insert into the logo.

Throughout his career as a New York Times photographer, James Estrin has capture some in credibly powerful photography.

The final installment of photo-related news out of Apple’s annual WWDC Keynote comes out of the clouds... or rather cloud. Tying together photo management across the entire Apple ecosystem is the introduction of iCloud Photo Library.

As presumed by many, the iOS version of the Photos app received quite an update while Apple also showed off a new 'Photos' app for OSX, which may very well take the place of what has long been known as iPhoto.

How are these Apollo 17 astronauts riding around in their buggy on the moon without their spacesuits? You might wonder. Well, they’re not. This photograph, captured in 1971, shows the astronauts taking their buggy for some field training test drives on Hawaii’s Big Island.

When it comes to medium format photography, prime lenses are the norm. The size, weight and quality of construction of lenses are all areas of constraint for medium format over DSLRs or mirrorless, and so zoom lenses are more of a rarity.

In an attempt to simplify the workflow of transferring information between your iOS device and computer, the company HYPER has created something called the iStick.

With a lightning connector on one end and a standard male USB connector on the other, the iStick acts as an easy-to-use thumb-drive that transfers photos seamlessly between your iOS device and a computer.

Are you not impressed with your average Instagram selfie? Is the lighting too bland and out of place for your liking? If so, a team made up of a researcher from MIT and a few individuals from Adobe and the University of Virginia might just have a solution to your problem.

They’ve created an algorithm capable of accurately stylizing an average, otherwise insignificant selfie to look like the works of some of the best-known and well-respected portrait photographers of all time.

Who says you can’t learn from video games? Shown off in the above video is a preview of an upcoming first-person simulation game that takes the concept of the first person shooter in a much more photographic direction.

An ongoing debate among photographers from all backgrounds is that of natural vs artificial light. Both options have their pitfalls and qualities worth praising, but even so, it seems like some photographers are hesitant to put a subject in front of a strobe if natural light is available.

But as shown in this video put together by Felix Kunze and Sue Bryce for CreativeLive, when used correctly, strobes can almost perfectly replicate the look of natural light. Kunze and Bryce compare identical model setups side-by-side using both natural and strobe lighting as an exercise in showing off the differences and similarities between the two.

Sigma has done nothing but impress over the course of the last year, one piece of quality glass at a time. But as impressive as their Art, Contemporary and Sports glass already is, the company isn't anywhere near done yet.
