More compelling (at least for us) than the anti-Photoshop/retouching campaigns that have recently been going viral are the magazines and advertising campaigns that are backing these movements by actually taking excessive retouching out of the equation.

Magazines like Verily, who earlier this year explained their no-Photoshop policy, and ad campaigns like Aerie Real, a new campaign for the lingerie brand Aerie that is currently taking the Internet by storm.

A couple of times last year, we had the chance to share with you amazing color film footage shot all the way back in the 1920s by filmmaker and cinematographer Claude Friese-Greene. His father had invented the bicolour technique of capturing color film, and using this technique Friese-Greene captured beautiful footage of 1920's Britain for his collection of films The Open Road.

The most famous of these films were shot in London, at the end of Friese-Greene's two-year roadtrip around Britain; and now, 86 years later, we can compare his footage with the same shots taken in present day thanks to filmmaker Simon Smith.

Former ballet dancer and professional photographer Jesús Chapa-Malacara has two great passions in life: yep, you guessed right, they're dance and photography. These two passions collide in his recent Dance Prints series, a beautiful motion photography project that, with your help, he hopes to take to the next level.

There are many videos and articles out there condemning the use of Photoshop to alter a model's body in unnatural ways. Vertical Video Syndrome, or VVS, is a plague that photographers, videographers and just about everybody else have been trying to eradicate from the face of the Earth for some time now without much success. Within much of the photography community, the Hasselblad Lunar and Stellar are something of a running joke -- rebranded Sony cameras that slap on exotic and/or luxurious materials and sell for thousands more than the originals.

Say what you will about Apple -- and there are many people who have a lot of not-so-nice things to say -- but the company knows how to put together an ad. Apple's newest commercial gives the iPad the same treatment -- showing the gadget being used for everything from photography to filmmaking while a monologue about poetry from the movie Dead Poets Society inspires you into a creative frenzy.

It's only January 11th, and we've already found a piece of slow-motion cinematography that might just remain our favorite of 2014. Created as a commercial for Schwartz Flavour Shots, this slow-motion video dubbed "The Sound of Taste" is a beautiful combination of cinematography and pyrotechnics that creates what filmmaker Chris Cairns calls "an audiovisual feast."

Sometimes a great photograph takes months of planning and patience to capture. Other times, you simply have to be in the right place at the right time, with your camera in tow and enough expertise to properly frame and capture an amazing moment. The photo above falls into the second category.

There's one final gear announcement from CES that we just didn't manage to get to this week, and that is the new line of Kodak-branded products that JK Imaging showed off at the trade show. From lens cameras that look an awful lot like cheap knock-offs of Sony's QX10 and QX100, to an updated line of superzooms, a Micro Four Thirds model and a couple of 'rugged' action cameras, here's what JK/Kodak brought to the CES table.

The photograph above seems fairly straight forward: pretty model photographed in Paris with the Eiffel Tower in the background. But that's not actually the case at all. The photograph was actually taken in a basement in Ohio.

Slow motion video is often mesmerizing, whether it shows creamer being poured ever so luxuriously into coffee, or a dog shaking off water. But the super slow motion series Stainless by photographer Adam Magyar put all of those to shame.
