It might be a few days after the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Invasions of Normandy, but in no way does the belated delivery of this powerful photo series diminish its impact.

Photographed by Robin Savage, The Last of The Liberators is a collection of portraits of the last British D-Day veterans. But what makes these portraits special isn't just the people photographed, but they places they were photographed in.

Photographer Jack Salzke is on a mission. By drawing on years of experience in the fashion and modeling world, Salzke wants to show the world that, while Photoshop and extreme make-up is an issue in the industry, it’s not as prevalent as the media makes it out to be.

He wants to show the world that the models being used for this sort of imagery are often just as beautiful without the makeup as they are with it, and he's planning to show this beauty off in a 100-photo book of real models, photographed without any makeup or Photoshop.

It's not unusual for still photographers to dabble in videography at some point in their career. With almost every high-end camera on the market capable of shooting HD video almost as well as it can capture stills, the potential is just teasing still photographers to jump into the motion picture realm.

August 19th, 1944 was the beginning of The Liberation of Paris, the six-day battle between the Parisian-led French Resistance and German forces. Occupied and governed by Nazi Germany since June of 1940, it was on this day that the Parisians decided to strike back against the German garrison.

While taking her usual walk along the water on Cardiff State Beach, California resident Marian Rogers came across a waterproof camera, still intact, and whose memory card still held the images of what appears to be newlyweds. A camera she is trying her best to reunite with its former owners.

In their seemingly never-ending effort to amaze us mere mortals, NASA has released yet another jaw-dropping Ultra Deep Field image. The above image is a composite created from only the best of the images captured between 2003–2012 by the cameras aboard the Hubble Space Telescope.

Created by photographer Ignacio Ferrando, the video was made by rigging together six GoPro cameras then using the video-stitching software VideoStitch to produce a stomach-turning adventure: a little planet-style roller coaster ride.

Following hot on the heels of a report that claimed Leica is looking to launch a cloud storage service, Canon has opened up Irista, a cloud-based photo storage solution of its own. Originally released in beta a few years ago under the unusual name Project 1709, the now-public service offers photographers a way to store, organize and share images in the cloud.

All photographs show a moment that is already gone, but the image you see above is unlike any other, because, while recently captured, it shows a cosmic explosion that took place approximately 12.1 billion years ago.

Yesterday evening, Pye Jirsa over on SLR Lounge shared an interesting and informative video about how he’s managed to incorporate a small army of LED camping lights into his photography workflow to great effect.

It’s been just over three decades since the passing of Ansel Adams, but his legacy lives on in the hearts and minds (and on many of the walls) of those he inspired. One of those people, noted National Geographic photographer Peter Essick, decided to pay tribute to the renowned Group f/64 master.

In an effort to increase ticket sales and get fans more involved, Purdue University has announced that they will be designing a new helmet for the football team that involves crowd-sourcing photos of fans to insert into the logo.
