Reviewer Consensus

Strong

The Fujifilm X-T1 is a highly capable mirrorless camera that balances classic manual controls with a robust, weather-sealed magnesium alloy body. While it delivers excellent image quality and features a large, responsive electronic viewfinder, the device is held back by mediocre video capabilities and some fiddly button ergonomics.

It’s hard not to fall in love with the chic look of the Fujifilm X-T1. Much has been said about it being the camera the Nikon Df should have been, and when you take the X-T1’s size, portability and build quality into consideration, it’s hard to disagree.

The weather sealing, the ruggedized construction, I think anyone who is interested in a compact system camera should take a really serious look at this.

Most mirrorless cameras are happy being smaller, beginner-friendly, somewhat less-capable alternatives to DSLRs. But the Fujifilm X-T1 has a different goal in mind: It's built to replace a DSLR camera entirely.

  • [T]here’s no denying the X-T1’s quality and on the whole it’s one of the best premium CSC’s on the market, reflected in its Gold Award status and a well deserved 93% overall score.

I have to hand it to Fuji, they kicked ass with this release and to me, it is the best APS-C camera solution on the market today. if you are a Fuji fan, this one is a no brainer.

Add to those positives super-sharp image quality that’s hard to beat and we think that of all the Fujifilm options available this is the one to go for.

Is the DSLR-styled 16MP megapixel Fujifilm X-T1 worth your pennies? Well, with the X camera series the appeal has always been as much, perhaps more, about how the camera looks as to how it performs.

The X-T1 is a blindingly good camera, worthy of world-class shutter operators. If there’s one complaint, it’s the lack of in-camera image stabilisation.

The compact changeable lens mirrorless camera market is maturing and this camera in particular stands solidly at the top of the Fujifilm lineup.

The main issue with the X-T1 is that control-dials and most buttons do not protrude enough which makes many of them seem unresponsive.

If you can get by those things, I’d give the X-T1 a Highly Recommended rating. It’s a very nice, well-made camera that could use a few minor tweaks to make it near perfect from the handling standpoint.

The Fuji XT-1 is what a Japanese camera should be: tiny, tight, precise, fast, quiet, easy-to-use and extremely well made out of all metal. It's not another offshored-to-China excuse made out of plastic.

The X-T1 is the third X camera from Fujifilm that we have tested in the past 2 and a half yeas and there is no debut in our minds that the company progressed considerably over this time period.

The Fujifilm X-T1 is a serious camera for serious photographers. Yes it has some of that nice retro styling and also comes in a gorgeous graphite silver version, but this is a camera that was made to be used, not just to sling over your shoulder.
