Our Commitment to a High Standard

Fact-Checking: We verify all reporting either through our own research, through discussions with relevant parties, or through multiple reliable sources. Product information is based on provided manufacturer specifications, official documentation, or verified direct contacts before publication.

Sourcing and Attribution: We credit original news sources prominently and provide direct hyperlinks to the primary reporting or original content whenever applicable.

Rumors and Speculation: As a policy, PetaPixel rarely reports on rumors or unsubstantiated claims. However, in the cases where unconfirmed information is reported, PetaPixel clearly labels them as leaks or speculation. Further, we do not publish rumors unless they come from credible sources or hold significant industry impact, and we always clearly articulate the level of certainty.

AI and Synthetic Media: As a publication dedicated to the art, craft, and technology of photography, PetaPixel does not use generative AI to create artwork, header images, or original visual content for our own stories. We believe in supporting real photographers, photojournalists, and digital artists. The imagery used to represent PetaPixel’s original reporting, reviews, and editorial content is captured by human creators or sourced from licensed, human-created media.

  • When AI Images Appear on PetaPixel: We only display AI-generated imagery on our site when it is directly relevant to a specific news story or industry discussion. This includes:
    • Images provided by third-party companies, research institutions, or manufacturers as part of a product release or press announcement.
    • Visual examples used for critical analysis, educational comparison, or reporting on artificial intelligence technology itself.
    • Whenever an AI-generated or synthetically created image is displayed on PetaPixel, it will be clearly labeled and attributed in the caption or text so our readers always know what they are looking at.
  • PetaPixel does not use generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT or similar systems) to write, outline, summarize, or generate any portion of our published text.
  • Every article, review, news report, opinion piece, and camera test published on PetaPixel is researched, written, and edited entirely by real human journalists. We believe human perspective, real-world expertise, and hands-on experience are essential to accurate, reliable reporting – qualities that automated text generators cannot replicate. We also happen to like the em-dash, and won’t stop using it just because AI happens to use it a lot as well.
  • When Generated Text Appears on PetaPixel: Text produced by AI systems is only quoted or referenced on PetaPixel when it is the direct subject of a news story such as covering developments in AI technology, analyzing press releases about AI tools, or testing the capabilities of generative models. In these instances, any machine-generated text is explicitly formatted, quoted, and credited to provide full transparency to our readers.
