A team of five French amateur astrophotographers has captured a gorgeous 204-megapixel, 1,060-hour photo of the Large Magellanic Cloud.

This is the first photo ever captured of a black hole. It was revealed today after years of international collaboration between over 200 international astronomers.

Check out this incredible photo of the moon. It may look like it was captured using some ultra-advanced (and expensive) equipment, but it was actually created by astrophotography enthusiast Andrew McCarthy by capturing and combining 50,000 photos.

During the super blood wolf moon total lunar eclipse on Monday, cameras pointed at the moon captured the first known sighting of a meteorite slamming into the shadow-covered moon. This 24-second video of the impact was released by Jose Maria Madiedo at the University of Huelva in Spain.

Here's a new photo that shows Earth and the Moon from a whopping 71 million miles away. It was captured by NASA's OSIRIS-REx, which is currently on a mission to obtain a sample from a near-Earth asteroid and return it to Earth.

The European Space Agency (ESA) has released an eye-opening pair of new photos that show a massive crater of water ice on Mars. The crater measures 51 miles (83km) across and contains a 1.1-mile-thick (1.8km) mound of water ice all year round.

The Royal Observatory Greenwich prestigious Insight Investment Astronomy Photographer of the Year contest has unveiled the overall winners for the 2018 edition. The top prize was awarded to American photographer Brad Goldpaint, whose photo "Transport the Soul" (shown above) captures Moab, Utah, with a photographer, rock formations, Andromeda (left) and the Milky Way (right).

Space enthusiast and photo processing hobbyist Jason Major created this edit of a NASA photo showing a ginormous coronal mass ejection back on June 7th, 2011. See that little blue circle in the upper-left-hand corner? That's the Earth for scale.

Behold: this is the first confirmed image of a planet being born. The image was captured by SPHERE, a planet-hunting instrument on the European Southern Observatory's (ESO) Very Large Telescope.

This image was taken on November 4th, 2017 at 4:19 am in Titusville, Florida. It shows the International Space Station (with a crew of six currently onboard) transiting the full “Beaver Moon.” As the ISS orbits Earth at 17,500mph, or roughly five miles per second, the transit lasted just 0.90 seconds.

Astrophotographer Alexander Pietrow recently made some unusual photo history: he is apparently the first person ever to photograph the Moon and Jupiter using a Game Boy Camera.
