  • PetaPixel 10/10

The Sony Alpha 1 is probably the most technologically advanced and innovative system that Sony has produced, combining high resolution stills with 8k video and an incredibly fast-performing system as a whole that I've just not seen any other manufacturer successfully pull off.

  • DPReview 93/100

The Sony a1 is the most refined Alpha-series interchangeable lens camera yet. Its combination of speed and resolution for both stills and video set it apart in a crowded field of excellent options, though that combination is also responsible for the price it commands.

It's one of those rare cases where the jack of all trades is somehow also better than the specified masters. It's a better photo camera than the a7R IV, and it's a better video camera than the a7S III.

For pros in the Sony system looking for the ultimate single-body tool, this is it. The rest of us might choose to buy a few extra lenses and go with a more inexpensive camera in the lineup, depending on our needs.

On paper, in real life, 50 megapixels at 30 frames per second with no rolling shutter, 1400 flash flashing speed, there's still nothing that can compete with that.
