Reviewer Consensus

Strong

Fujifilm X100VI is a highly desirable, compact premium camera that blends a classic retro design with modern performance upgrades like a 40MP sensor and in-body image stabilization. While it excels as a portable, fun-to-use tool for street and travel photography, it remains a specialized fixed-lens device with some ergonomic and technical limitations.

The X100VI is, as you might expect, an iterative update to the much-loved series of cameras. The higher-res sensor and image stabilization, along with some other little tweaks make it the best yet.

Ultimately I’d say most owners of the X100V could skip the upgrade unless they’d regularly exploit IBIS, but if you have an older X100, are still on a waiting list for a V, or simply want a high quality all-in-one, the X100 VI is an easy camera to recommend.

The true magic of the X100VI is in the packaging. It is more than the sum of its parts, as when I break down the hardware, autofocus, and optical performance, there is nothing really exceptional here.

Considering its small size, this camera is just about jam-packed with everything you might want for street, casual, and even more serious photography, and what's more, it's a considerable upgrade of the older Mark V model of the camera.

The X100 series has a lot of fans and for good reasons. It manages to appeal as “vacation” camera to professional photographers (thanks to its many external controls) and also to amateurs (thanks to its likable out-of-camera results) – a delicate balancing act.

The X100VI is a worthy successor to the X100V. It continues the X100 series tradition as a good all-around camera that fits nicely between your high-end smartphone and high-end mirrorless camera.

In my opinion, the Fujifilm X100VI is one of the best compact cameras of 2024. The camera takes the design and features that were well-loved on the X100V and adds a range of new and useful updates, including a larger image sensor, improved subject detection and 5-axis IBIS.

The inclusion of IBIS in such a compact camera is a big plus, and your real-world notes help put that into perspective. I also appreciate the honest take on battery life and how Fuji kept the classic design while modernizing the internals.

Set aside the hype and my personal choices; the X100VI still has the spirit of the original X100 and is a camera that begs to be picked up and used as an alternative to heavier, larger mirrorless setups or as a step up from the camera on your mobile phone.
