The CP+2024 show is slated to start later this week in Yokohama, Japan, and Cosina has announced the Voigtlander lenses it will showcase at the event.
Cosina announced a new ultra-large aperture apsherical lens, the Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1 for Sony E-mount.
Along with the Voigtlander 40mm f/1.2 lens for Canon RF-mount cameras, Cosina today also revealed the Nokton Vintage Line 28mm f/1.5 Aspherical VM lens for Leica M-mount cameras.
Friday, Cosina announced the Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.2 Aspherical lens for Canon RF mount. Coming in January, it will be the second lens it has produced for the mirrorless mount and only the second third-party lens officially authorized by Canon.
This past February, Cosina announced that it would release a Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1 lens for Canon RF-mount. Today, it shared more information on the lens, including price and release date.
In August, Cosina will release a new Voigtlander-branded Color-Skopar 28mm f/2.8 Aspherical for VM mount (compatible with Leica M mount) in two types as well as another version in L39 mount.
Cosina has announced the Ultron 27mm f/2 lens, a thin, light, and fast prime that is made exclusively for Fujifilm X-mount.
Cosina is expanding to support Canon RF mount this year and will release a Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1 aspherical lens that, while manual focus, will communicate electronically with the camera.
Cosina has announced that it will release a Nokton 50mm f/1 Aspherical and a Super Wide-Heliar 15mm f/4.5 Aspherical for Nikon Z-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras.
Cosina has announced that two more Voigtlander prime lenses are being made available for Nikon Z-mount cameras: a Nokton 40mm f/1.2 Aspherical and a Macro APO-Ultron D35mm f/2, which brings the total collection of officially licensed lenses to six optics.
Cosina has revealed more information about its upcoming Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 35mm f/2 aspherical lens for Nikon Z-mount, what it is calling its highest performance "quasi-wide-angle" optic ever.
The Cosina Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 50mm f/2 Aspherical that was originally released for Sony E-Mount cameras (and later released for Leica M-mount) is being made available for Nikon Z-Mount cameras in May.
Cosina has announced four new Voigtlander lenses, one for Fujifilm X-Mount and three for Nikon Z-mount. For Nikon, the company has launched the 50mm f/2, 35mm f/2, and 23mm f/1.2. That last lens is also being made available for Fujifilm X-mount.
Cosina has announced the Voigtlander Heliar 40mm f/2.8 Aspherical for Leica Screw Mount Thread (L39) and VM-mounts. The lens is designed to be lightweight, small, and compact with a semi-wide angle and crisp sharpness.
Cosina has announced the Nokton D35mm f/1.2 for Nikon Z-mount APS-C cameras. The lens has been developed and manufactured under a license agreement with Nikon and has full electronic communication with a Z-mount camera body.
Cosina has announced the Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1 Aspherical lens for VM-mount, which is the fastest lens it has ever produced for full-frame.
Cosina has announced a new ultra-wide lens under its "Vintage Line" for Leica M-Mount: the 21mm f/3.5 Color Skopar Aspherical lens. It updates a 2019 design reminiscent of the 1950s to one more akin to the 1970s.
Cosina has launched the Voigtlander APO-Skopar 90mm f/2.8 for Nikon's F-mount. Cosina says that the lens has been designed to bring the appearance of chromatic aberration to as close to zero as possible.
Cosina has announced the Voigtlander Color-Skopar 28mm f/2.8 SL II S Aspherical lens for Nikon F-mount. This all-metal manual lens is an homage to Nikon's film lenses from the 1960s.
Cosina has announced the Voigtlander 50mm f/1.5 Heliar Classic lens for VM-mount that it says was designed in "pursuit of a classical image that modern lenses do not have." The optical design is intentionally imperfect to mimic a true vintage lens and show various aberrations.
Cosina has launched the Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f/1.2 for Fujifilm X-mount that it describes as a double-Gauss type configuration with a symmetrical optical arrangement that provides smooth, large bokeh.
Cosina has announced three new 35mm /2 lenses under the Voigtlander brand, two for the Leica M-mount and one for Sony E-mount cameras: the Voigtlander Ultron Vintage Line 35mm F2 Aspherical Type II VM and two versions of the Voigtlander Apo-Lanthar 35mm F2 Aspherical VM.
It's been an exciting day for Micro Four Thirds shooters. Not only have budget brands Yongnuo and Venus Optics officially joined the standard, but Cosina Japan has unveiled the Micro Four Thirds mount Voigtlander Nokton 60mm f/0.95.
Here's an interesting idea: the Japanese company Cosina has released a new augmented reality app that shows you what various lenses look like on your camera.
Cosina is further adding to its RF line of lenses by bringing its Voigtlander Nokton 75mm f/1.5 Aspherical lens to Canon's mirrorless mount in April.
Canon doesn't currently like anyone making autofocus-equipped lenses for its RF mount, but Yongnyo keeps doing it. The latest is a 35mm f/2 lens that is finding its way onto store shelves internationally.
Cosina has announced a tiny new lens for Fujifilm X-Mount cameras. The Voigtlander Color-Skopar 18mm f/2.8 Aspherical is a pancake-style prime lens designed exclusively for Fujifilm X Series cameras.
When it comes to protecting its intellectual property, Canon is among the most litigious. Whether printer ink or lenses for the RF mount, the company spends significant effort shutting down unregistered third party brands. From the outside looking in, this can come off as petty, aggressive, or even greedy.
At the CP+2023 Camera & Photo Imaging Show in Japan earlier this year, I had a conversation with Keiji Oishi, Manager in the UX Planning Department of Nikon’s Imaging Business Unit.
Canon executives in China were asked by local journalists when the company might consider opening the RF lens mount to third-party optics, and the company confirmed that it is currently evaluating options -- just on a case-by-case basis.
Cosina will release a new Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.2 lens made exclusively for Fujifilm X-mount this September.
It might come as a surprise to many readers, seeing my byline on an industry-interview article here on PetaPixel, not to mention one from the CP+ 2023 show in Yokohama, Japan. It’s now been no less than three months since that, but I’m only just now getting this and several other articles posted.
Meike has announced a new 85mm f/1.4 autofocus lens for Sony E, Nikon Z, Leica L, and -- surprisingly -- Canon RF mounts. If this stands, Meike will be the first third-party manufacturer to come to market with an autofocus-equipped lens for Canon's mirrorless mount.
Every camera brand makes excellent cameras. However, as the popular photography YouTube channel Mango Street shows with its humorous "camera brand support group" video, that doesn't mean photographers can't laugh at themselves and some of the stereotypes surrounding their preferred manufacturer.
Canon has an image problem and I'm not talking about photos. The company currently has a battle on three fronts when it comes to the perception of its brand: no third-party lens options, the actions of its printer division, and the company's stance on climate change.
If you're primarily a digital photographer with an itch to return to your roots or a film photographer who appreciates the tech as much as the image, Barnack Leica's are a fun way to see what it was like to take photographs almost a century ago with one of the world's most innovative and celebrated camera designs.
The mark of a mature camera system is the breadth and depth of lenses that are available for it. The most recent news swirling around Canon, its RF mount, and third-party lens manufacturers demonstrates the principal battleground between competing mirrorless brands.
