Ricoh Is Opening Its First GR Space In the US
Ricoh Imaging is opening its first dedicated GR Space in the United States.
Following dedicated GR Space locations in Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Brisbane, and most recently, Seoul, Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation revealed that North American photographers will soon have a new space to celebrate Ricoh GR Series cameras, street photography, and the broader photo community.
Ricoh describes the launch of the new GR Space in New York City as a significant milestone for the company and its growth, adding that the location reflects its commitment to the photography industry at large and to photographers.
“New York City and the GR share a natural connection,” says Ken Curry, President of Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation. “Both are driven by observation, spontaneity and finding extraordinary moments in everyday life. GR SPACE New York City gives us the opportunity to create a place where snapshooters to professional photographers can experience our products, but more importantly, where they can learn, exchange ideas and be inspired by one another.”
PetaPixel went to Brisbane last year to see the first GR Space in Australia, the only GR Space outside of Asia until the one in New York City opens.
“The GR series has always been more than just a camera — it’s a movement, a culture, and a way of seeing the world,” Director of GR Space Brisbane Clem Kennedy told PetaPixel in September 2025. “With GR Space Brisbane, we are creating a place to promote Australian homegrown talent, and we are honored to open our doors at the same time as the global launch of the Ricoh GR IV.”
Speaking of the GR IV, since that GR Space opened in Australia, Ricoh has officially launched the GR IV, the GR IV HDF, the monochrome-specific GR IV Monochrome, and announced the development of the GR IVx. The company has also celebrated the 30th anniversary of the GR Series with a special edition GR IV kit, which includes cute-as-heck camera pins.
Many mysteries remain about the Ricoh GR Space New York City, including its opening date, inaugural gallery exhibition, seminar schedule, and special events. It's not even clear exactly where in New York City the new GR Space New York will be. Ricoh says it will share more details soon and that the store will open in Winter 2027, which theoretically could be as soon as January. As DPReview writes, Ricoh does not mean December 2027 when it says "Winter 2027."
