[T]he Canon EOS R7 is a lot of camera for a reasonable amount of money. It has a lot going for it, from the blistering burst rate in either mechanical (3FPS faster than the EOS R3) or electronic shutter mode to the excellent, high resolution 32.5MP sensor.

APS-C will never die and I love the Canon EOS R7 because it jumps straight into being a highly accomplished and competitive premium crop sensor camera.

  • The R10 is a good camera, and its bigger sibling the R7 does not let the side down. It handles well, performs impeccably and is a solid, well-designed camera.

You can use Canon's adapter to mount their vast range of full-frame EF DSLR and RF mirrorless lenses on the R7, but that perhaps rather negates the point of buying a smaller sensor, physically smaller and financially smaller camera.

[T]he Canon EOS R7 is a fantastic camera and you're getting features unheard of at this price point, and while it does not always perform super consistent, you're still getting some great results with that camera.

The Canon R7 is an extremely capable and well-priced camera but it's let down by its lack of lens options. If Canon releases some more compelling glass for the RF-S system, it'll be much easier to recommend.

While an APS-C sensor has afforded both a smaller camera body and a more accessible price point than a full frame EOS 7 series mirrorless or DSLR from Canon, the manufacturer has been generous with its pixel count, gifting the EOS R7 a whopping 32.5MP resolution as well as [...]

They've packed it with quite a few features that are typically reserved for higher priced products, so I do believe this is now one of the best bang for buck video cameras on the market and something I wish existed when I first started.

I'll answer that up front (without all the nuance): yes, it basically does, though you'll want to know all about the nuance (see Performance section, below). However, the R7 really does slot more against the 90D in my estimation.

The lightweight build also means the R7 is easier to bring for your holiday instead of lugging much heavier gear. However, if you're planning to shoot ultra-wide landscapes, you may be better off using your phone.

TIt can be paired with a variety of lenses, cementing its suitability for capturing a wide range of subjects and scenes. Although this is an APS-C body, you can use full-frame lenses perfectly, such as the RF 24-240mm F/4-6.3 IS USM used for the entirety of this review.

Yes, in 2025 I that camera still holds its own, holds its weight. I think it's still a great camera in 2025, even with all the other cameras that came along for the price it's at, the specs you get in it, it really can't be beat.
