Leaked Details for Canon’s New EF 40mm f/2.8 Pancake Lens

Alongside picture and spec leaks for Canon’s soon-to-be-announced T4i, details on their up and coming 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens have also surfaced. Besides pictures and schematics, which you can see above and below, we now know that the new EF lens will also be an “STM” lens — meaning it will be sporting a silent AF motor. Canon Going the Way of the Pancake, 40mm f/2.8 Coming in June

Pancake lenses are becoming quite popular in the industry, especially with smaller mirrorless cameras, as their small form factor allows for greater portability. Canon will soon be jumping onto the pancake bandwagon with its EF line of lenses. Canon Rumors reports that Canon will be announcing a small, thin, and light EF 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens that should cost less than $300. Expect to see the lens announced next month along with the new Rebel T4i and a new EF-S 18-135mm IS II lens.

Samsung 20mm f/2 Pancake Lens Picture Leaked? Not Quite

A rumor making its rounds today is that a photograph of an upcoming Samsung NX 20mm f/2 pancake lens was leaked. The photo (shown above) looks pretty legit, and does not seem to be obviously fake or “photoshopped”.

Well, in the thread on PentaxForums where the image was posted yesterday, someone pointed out that the “leaked photo” looks suspiciously like the Samsung 30mm.
