Canon Rebel T4i Release Date Revealed Amidst Murmurings of a 70D and 3D

Several major rumors surfaced over the last couple of days about Japanese camera giant Canon, ranging from release dates to specs for cameras that up until now were spec-less for the general public. First up, according to Canon Rumors, the long awaited and rumored Canon Rebel T4i will be released later this week on June 8th. In addition, specs for the T4i should be exactly as the original rumors suggested: 18-megapixel sensor, 9 cross-type AF points, touchscreen LCD and continuous AF for live view and video recording.

But the more exciting rumors come via Japanese magazine CAPA, which released a preliminary, speculative list of specs for two other rumored cameras: the 70D and 3D. The 70D — which would be the follow-up to the 60D — is said to feature a better 19-point AF than the 7D, 6fps continuous shooting, a 22-megapixel sensor, Digic5+ processor, a magnesium body and a swivel display.

The 3D, on the other hand, is rumored to offer a 30+ megapixel sensor, 1D-class body, 61-point AF similar to the 1DX in function, dual Digic5+ processors, 6fps continous shooting and be speedlight transmitter equipped. There’s also some speculation that the 3D will offer 4K video recording.

As always, rumors this preliminary are more speculation than fact, but if you’re interested in finding out more head over to Canon Watch for the spec list, including pictures from the magazine itself.
