I’m so glad we were finally able to spend a couple of months here in Melbourne together! There were so many places I wanted to show you, so many people I wanted you to meet.
When the X100 was first released by Fujifilm the camera world popped with excitement. It was revolutionary in the eyes of many photographers. When the X100S dropped, we lauded Fujifilm shouting "Yes! They fixed so much!".
Now with the December release of the X100T, we are tickled pink with excit... err... well... In a market now saturated with vintage-styled cameras, all of which are more than capable in every aspect, do we still care about the new Fuji offering?
For the last 21 days I have been in Japan putting Fujifilm's new X100T through its paces.
This review will not cover every technical aspect of the X100T, but rather how it feels to shoot with it every day and how it fits in with my workflow.
The recent #occupycentral pro-democratic election protests in Hong Kong have been all over the news the past few days, and so, when it came time to review the new Fuji X100T, DigitalRev TV decided to take to the protest site.
One of the big reasons held up as the "why" behind smartphone dominance is portability. It's not just that smartphones can do so much more than take pictures, it's also that they're is so much smaller than a prosumer grade cameras. Well, at least they used to be.
Among the new features of the newly announced Fujifilm X100T is something they call the "Classic Chrome" film setting. Technically this is not a debut, having already been announced on the X30 earlier this summer.
But I think it's a sleeper feature, and will prove to be one of the growing list of reasons Fuji users tend to connect so strongly with their cameras.
The saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." But while the X100S certainly wasn't 'broke' -- it's one of the most beloved cameras currently on the market -- Fuji is delighting customers today by releasing the much-rumored X100T and making this phenomenal camera even better by adding some groundbreaking viewfinder tech and more.
The closer we get to Photokina the more excited we're becoming. Canon will supposedly unveil the 7D Mark II (among other things), Sigma supposedly has several lenses up its sleeve, we might see the next ZEISS Otus lens, and now, we're also hearing talk of a Fuji X100S successor making an appearance with some significant upgrades.
