This is a very well made lens with lovely bokeh and a high level of sharpness. Flare, CA and distortion are all but abolished.

The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR is a standout telephoto lens, but one that won't balance well on smaller cameras.

The XF 100-400mm is an excellent lens as far as optical quality is concerned. I [...] felt it was at the same level as other premium telephoto zooms and on par with the quality Fujifilm has given us already with other zoom lenses [...]

Perhaps the best way to think about the Fujinon 100-400mm is that it’s a fantastic 100-350mm lens, especially from 100mm to about 250mm, which is where it produces the best results. The last 50mm is a bonus—sufficiently good, but disappointing when you consider how much it costs.

So I think definitely this is not just a wildlife photographer or a sports photographer, yes it is used in that genre, but I think definitely if you think beyond that and you can definitely get some incredible photos.

If you want an ultra-tele for your Fuji Camera, this is the best there is. It is ultra sharp and its stabilization system is superb. The results from this lens on any Fuji body are superb - but it doesn't focus very close.

As for the image stabilizer, I think it may be the best I have ever tried. Things look rock-solid in the viewfinder. Image quality in this very limited test fell a bit short of expectations.

Really fantastic lens, definitely worth looking at if you're looking to come from heavier gear such as the Canon gear, but you're into shooting sports and wildlife.

I think it's a fantastic lens and I won't be getting rid of it and for someone that loves primes to say that they love a telephoto or a zoom lens, it speaks highly of this lens which is great.
