What the Reviewers Say

  • DPReview 86/100

The X-T2 is Fujifilm's most all-round capable ILC ever. It offers the excellent Raw image quality and delicious JPEGs as the X-Pro2 but gains much improved autofocus and some of the most detailed 4K footage we've seen.

For now, I will avoid giving a solid conclusion as the camera I worked with is still in its beta stage.

Apart from these, the X-T2 is a dream camera. It’s the most appealing model in the X-series to date and will certainly change people’s perception of speed associated with mirrorless cameras.

I really enjoyed the X-T2, guys, and I'm going to talk quite a bit about it in our wrap-up here, but the main thing that I want to get across and the main thing that really makes this camera revolutionary now is the better autofocusing.

Fujifilm’s X-T2 is the perfect mirrorless camera for photo geeks. It seems like that’s true of every camera that Fujifilm releases, but the X-T2 is a refined sequel to the X-T1 that improves on its predecessor in the ways that matter most: resolution, autofocus, and ease of use.

As with the X-Pro2 camera that was released at the start of 2016, Fujifilm have taken an evolutionary, rather than revolutionary approach to the new X-T2.

The Fujifilm X-T2 is a fast-shooting mirrorless camera that doesn't disappoint when it comes to imaging, video, or build quality, and is backed by a strong lens library.

There's still a bit of room for improvement, but factor in the new sensor that delivers pin-sharp results and the X-T2 has to be one of the most desirable cameras available right now.

  • Digital Trends 8/10

Fujifilm has always made cameras that are defined more by the experience of using them than their performance, but the X-T2 may be the first to buck this trend.

I'm not an expert in cameras nor am I a professional camera reviewer but I can tell you this: the X-T2 is a solid camera for photography in general, especially if you want a compact setup to lug around that can get the job done really well.

It will be my go-to shooter for portraits moving forward, and it also makes a strong statement that Fuji is coming after the video enthusiast market.

While this camera isn't perfect, it's an absolutely fantastic all-around camera. Yes, it does have room to improve, but knowing Fuji will likely get some improvements and firmware upgrades.

[T]hey've improved it in almost every way and more importantly they've really taken a hard look at what their strengths and what their weaknesses are and they've specifically tried to improve on what their weaknesses were and that's namely again autofocus and video.

Fujifilm wants to sell XT-2s as event and action cameras. The focus system performance coupled with the sensor’s image quality ought to appeal to pros in both those categories as long as they're not looking for the very best.

While the X-T2 is not perfect in every way (no camera ever will be), there’s no question that it’s one of the best choices for low-budget narrative filmmakers looking to benefit from the DSLR form factor.
