Reviewer Consensus
Strong
The Fujifilm X-Pro3 is a specialized rangefinder-style camera designed to prioritize a traditional, distraction-free shooting experience. While its unique hidden rear screen and robust titanium construction appeal to street photographers, the unconventional design and lack of modern video-centric features make it a niche tool rather than a general-purpose camera.

- PetaPixel 9/10
[T]he X-Pro3 is my favorite camera from Fujifilm, full stop.
- DPReview 85/100
The X-Pro3 is a unique mirrorless camera, and will appeal to those who want a waist-level screen or an optical viewfinder experience.
-
Whether these enhancements will come with firmware updates to the XT series is unknown at the time of writing, but right now they’re exclusive to the X-Pro3. Somewhat predictably, Classic Negative has now become my new favourite Film Simulation.
-
We’ve been eagerly awaiting the X-Pro3’s arrival to find out how Fujifilm’s eccentric idea of doing away with a traditional rear screen has affected what it is like to use.
- WIRED 8/10
The X-Pro line has a smaller audience than Fujifilm's other cameras, but it's an audience that Fujifilm clearly remains devoted to. The changes in this update are well worth the money. The X-Pro3, like its predecessors, is a camera that makes you want to get out and shoot.
-
The Fujifilm X-Pro 3 offers a unique shooting experience, one that isn’t designed to appeal to every photographer.
-
On the surface the new Fujifilm X-Pro3 mirrorless camera seems like a rather modest refresh of the three-year-old X-Pro2, inheriting the core specs of the more DSLR-like X-T3 and presenting them within the traditional rangefinder design of the X-Pro series.
-
The Fujifilm X-Pro3 set out with a mission: to keep photographers shooting, rather than chimping (checking your photos as you shoot them). [...] However, by challenging you to shoot in a traditional way, at times it impedes your ability to shoot in a modern one.
-
The Fujifilm X-Pro3 is a love letter to rangefinder aficionados, and does the best job (this side of Leica) of making the digital experience feel a bit more like film.
-
The Fujifilm X-Pro3 is undoubtedly a niche camera, but if you’re its target market – namely, a street photographer who wants a camera that mixes the best of modern and analogue shooting – then it might just be the best street sidekick around.
-
It's hard to assign a score to a camera like this because it's clearly for a very narrow group of buyers.
-
Certainly I seem to have found my happy place with the X-Pro3 and I feel it’s a really good fit for the type of travel and landscape work I see myself doing over the short to medium term.
- Photo Review 8.8/10
The X-Pro3 is aimed at serious photographers who have grown up with rangefinder cameras and want to shift to digital capture without losing the traditional rangefinder control layout.
-
I think that this camera is for the hardcore street photographer because you can get the XT3 for cheaper with more features yet more video but HDMI 10-bit yeah and but I feel the experience is slightly different with this camera.
-
This camera, just as I predicted, it was a perfect choice for me, small, all the features I need, great lenses.
-
After running around the city for the last couple days with the Fujifilm X-Pro3, I'm in love. This really is the quintessential street photographers camera and it's brought the passion back to shooting, which I think is exactly what Fujifilm wanted to do with this camera.
-
If I had a lot of money, I would easily have an XT3 for my job and an XPro3 for the road, but since I don’t and you may not either, I’d simply say that if you’re a film photographer, street photographer [...]
-
[M]y conclusion is that the X-Pro3 isn’t perfect and it isn’t for everyone, but for some it will be a much appreciated, much loved, and much used camera for years to come.
-
Street photographers rejoice as this is the latest and greatest Fujifilm camera intended for you to pursue and enjoy your craft.
-
[T]he EVF, I have liked using it and I have felt it slows you slightly. [...] It makes you a bit slower [...] which I kind of like.
-
I think that if you primarily shoot photos and enjoy the classic look and feel shooting with a rangefinder, then this is probably up your alley.
-
So after shooting with the Fujifilm X-Pro3 for multiple shoots, I can honestly say that this is a camera that will always be in my kit, at least until the X-Pro4 comes out, because I truly enjoyed using the film simulations on this camera.
-
Let me sum it up this way: the X-Pro3 at the end of the day is in fact a modest technical upgrade to the X-Pro2, wrapped in a clear appreciation for whimsy, character, and what street photographers especially want, need, and enjoy.
-
For a stills shooter like myself, the X-Pro3 offers great image quality, handling and an experience that’s pretty similar to shooting film, but with all the options you’d expect from a modern digital camera.
-
I feel like this is really like a street photographer's dream where you can kind of just snap photos on the street and then you could immediately post them to Instagram.
-
The X-Pro3 isn’t a camera for everyone; it is now very much a niche camera. Those it appeals to will absolutely love it, and for those who want a different experience, Fujifilm (and all the other camera manufacturers) has plenty of other options.
-
This X-Pro3 is a special camera for accomplished artists and people who deserve the very best.
-
The X-Pro3 is like a wristwatch or a pair of sunglasses. You'll enjoy the experience of carrying it on your body. After shooting with this thing for two weeks, I never wanted to let it go.
-
Images and very very good video, but this camera is really all about the experience of using it and of shooting with it, and I did enjoy that a lot.
-
The X-Pro3 has style; in my opinion, this is a classy, elegant, and well-thought-out design and Although its appeal is somewhat retro it also seems quite modern and this is the basic black version.
-
Just keep in mind it does not matter whether you are a professional or an amateur, you should always enjoy the experience of your photography – X-Pro3 will not disappoint you in any aspect.
-
I think a lot of people are probably already gonna know whether they like this camera. If you like Fujifilm cameras and you like this kind of style, this nails it, absolutely nails it, and I'm really happy about that.
-
I will discuss some of the specifications in this video, but know that overall this camera is it's just an all-around enjoyable camera to use and is supported by the specs.
-
Any questions, leave them below and I'll answer as best I can. I've been using this prototype now for a few months and I have to say.
-
The vintage body has been infused with a digital soul that makes the X-Pro3 a camera suitable for advanced amateurs and professionals fond of tradition.
-
No single camera can keep everyone happy—but for some, the Fujifilm X-Pro 3 is as close to perfect as it gets.
-
When I first started jotting my notes on this camera – an initial first impression of “hey this feels familiar” and “I’m not sure if this is for everyone” – has become a more nuanced take on the camera and the process of making photographs in general.
-
The shots that came out of the Fujifilm X-Pro3 are to say the least amazing, there's nothing to say about the quality.
-
I would probably not recommend this camera to any of you watching unless it's the sort of camera you're interested in.
-
Yeah, the titanium body or the special coating or the funky viewfinder and the back screen won't necessarily make you a better photographer, but this is a unique camera that gives you a unique experience that's built like a tank, and that's pretty much what it is.
-
So all in all functionality, it is still an X-Pro camera. The Fujifilm X-Pro3 shoots great, looks great, is very very fast. It just comes down to if you like the body or not.
-
To say I enjoyed my time with the Fujifilm X-Pro3 would be an understatement. It's one of my favorite digital cameras from the last few years, and honestly, after the time I spent with it, I'm considering buying one.
-
For the niche photographer it could be perfect, but for the normal photographer who just needs a good working camera, I don't know if I could recommend it.
