The ‘Enough’ Is for All You Small Phone Fans

Not everyone is stoked that smartphones keep getting larger, offering ever-bigger displays. In fact, some people are very much in love with the small phones of years past. New smartphone company Enough believes there are, well, enough of those people to justify launching an all-new small smartphone in 2026.
As The Verge‘s Alison Johnson remarks, it may seem like a risky time to make a new smartphone. Flash storage and chip prices are through the roof. Inflation is tightening people’s pursestrings. But maybe these same factors make it a good time to launch a smaller, relatively cheaper phone that doesn’t skimp on all the modern amenities that people expect from their jumbo, erm, regular, smartphones.
“In a sea of 6″ + slabs, enough stands small at 5.3″,” the company explains.
For reference, the base iPhone 17 smartphone has a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display. Those who want an iPhone with a much smaller screen must hit the used market, seeking out something like an iPhone 13 mini with its 5.4-inch screen. It’s much the same story on the Android side of things, where perhaps average phones are actually even bigger.

The Enough, which has raised nearly $130,500 of its $250,000 goal on Kickstarter so far with 28 days left in the campaign, harkens back to a bygone era of relatively small smartphones.
However, unlike most modern phones that have made screens bigger while simultaneously making chassises thinner and thinner, the Enough phone doesn’t worry much about being slim. It’s 12 millimeters (0.47 inches) thick, making it a relatively chonky fella. It’s thicker than the new folding iPhone Duo is when it’s closed. Actually, the iPhone Duo is an interesting comparison because its outer display is 5.4 inches diagonally. While the Enough is relatively taller, they aren’t that different in terms of size.

They are a lot different in terms of functionality and price, though. Enough starts at $449 for early bird backers and will retail for $599 after the Kickstarter campaign closes, supposing it goes well for the brand, that is.

Enough also differs from modern smartphone makers in its approach to repairability. Part of the reason why it’s a relatively thick phone is that it has a user-removable and replaceable 3,500mAh battery, a true rarity in today’s market.

On the inside, the phone has a MediaTek Dimensity 7500 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage (with expandable storage). It runs Android 17 and OdysseyOS. It features 5G wireless, Wi-Fi 6 (2.4+5GHz), GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, a fingerprint sensor, and Face ID. It has a physical SIM slot and supports eSIM.
As for cameras, this is where mobile photographers may scoff a bit. There’s but one rear camera, a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 module. Enough doesn’t say anything about the lens, but the IMX766 is a relatively normal Type 1/1.56 image sensor. A 24mm or 25mm equivalent lens should be expected, with the ability to crop in a bit for 2x or maybe 4x digital zoom. There’s also a front-facing 32-megapixel camera. Enough doesn’t specify video recording, but the sensor itself supports 4Kp24.

As of right now, Enough intends to ship to backers in May 2027. As mentioned, early bird backing starts at $449 and the retail price is expected to be $599.
