iPhone SLR Mount Lets You Attach Your Fancy Canon and Nikon Lenses

If for some reason you’ve always wanted pair up your SLR lenses with the tiny sensor found on the iPhone 4, Photojojo has a new mount that can make your dream come true. The package includes a special aluminum case for your phone, a UV filter attachment, and the lens adapter, and almost guarantees that you’ll be the strangest looking iPhone shooter on your street.

You can find the mount for $250 over in the Photojojo store. While using SLR lenses on an iPhone would certainly be a fun experiment, the price might be hard to swallow for most photo enthusiasts.

$250? I suppose I might use that on the rare occasion I’m caught in the field with my SLR batteries flat. Otherwise, if I’ve got to cart the glass around, why would I not take the body as well?

    I wouldn’t mind a C-Mount…

I think its pretty neat that someone thought of it, experimented, and actually found a way to do it.  Whether or not its useful, I really don’t know- not for me at least.  I applaud the effort though.

We’re trying to get the worst of both worlds, right?  The adapter takes so much space that you might as well carry along an SLR anyway.  One can buy decent used SLRs for the price of that adapter, and said SLR would have a raw mode, as well as more and likely better pixels than the iPhone 4.

Effective focal lengths must be massive.  Some people use webcams for astro work for that reason.  I quite like the sample pics, though they probably look awful above the size shown here.
