BeReal May Be On the Out: Users Have Nearly Halved Since Peak
BeReal, the "anti-Instagram" photo-sharing app that dominated Apple's App Store charts for much of last year, is already on the decline.
BeReal, the "anti-Instagram" photo-sharing app that dominated Apple's App Store charts for much of last year, is already on the decline.
It doesn't look good for Meta as the company is trading at its lowest stock value since 2019, advertisers are dropping spending, and users are leaving its platforms.
Instagram isn't just growing, it's growing faster than ever. Earlier today, the photo sharing giant announced that it has added 100 million new users in the last four months alone, bringing the total Instagram user count to a whopping 700M.
Instagram has been evolving at a furious clip in recent times, launching everything from a redesigned logo and an algorithmic feed to Snapchat-esque Stories. And it seems the big changes are bringing big returns: Instagram just hit 600 million monthly active users, doubling its member count in just two years.
Instagram announced in a blog post today that the photo sharing service has rocketed past another major milestone: 400 million users worldwide.
The news comes just 10 months after the Facebook-owned company announced 300 million users back in December 2014.
Instagram has officially passed the 300 million user mark, making it more popular than Twitter (which reported 284 million six weeks ago).
Phase One is making the most of Photokina by announcing a complete overhaul to its popular Capture One Pro software. Now on version 8.0, the updated program not only improves upon its former self, but also looks to squeeze in more of the market share by enticing ex-Aperture users who are looking for simple migration to a semi-familiar interface.
Instagram is a wonderful social network with simplicity built right into its infrastructure. Picdeck, a new web app for Instagram users, hopes to bring an interface similar to popular Twitter app TweetDeck to Instagram, letting users make the most of their square-cropped image streams.
A couple of days ago, there were murmurings on the web that Instagram experienced a sharp drop in usage numbers following its ill-handled Terms of Service change. The story was based on findings by analytics firm AppStats, which claimed that Instagram's Daily Active User count had fallen from over 15 million to around 5 million in the span of about one month.
Now Instagram (and its parent company Facebook) are speaking up and denying that it is seeing a max exodus of disgruntled users. The company has released usage figures for the first time in its young life.
We'll go ahead and start by saying that we're using the term "photographer" lightly; in reality we should probably say "users." But there's a certain irony to calling celebrity Instagramers "photographers" that we quite enjoy. Unlike Flickr where many of the best loved users are well known photogs showcasing their most recent work, Instagram's top users are made up entirely of celebrities.
