Nikon has announced a new firmware update for its high-end D4s DSLR that gives it a number of new abilities and fixes, among which are unlimited continuous shooting and unlimited exposure time.

If you don't mind shelling out $880 on a single memory card and putting all your eggs in one basket, you can buy Lexar's 512GB CF card (or SanDisk's 512GB SD card for $600). To give you a better idea of just how massive these capacities are, photographer Jared Polin stuck his 512GB card into his Nikon D4s and documented it in the video above.

The Canon 1D X is a couple of years old by now, but that doesn't mean it can't hold its own with the big boys of today. And so DigitalRev decided to put the camera up against Nikon's new D4s in a paparazzi-style shootout that you'll either find funny or annoying, depending on how you feel about DigitalRev humor in general. The Nikon D4s is only a marginal improvement on the D4, but that didn't stop Nikon from touting it as significantly better in low light and faster to boot. The question is, do those claims hold up when you put the camera through its paces?

Well, the DxOMark team did just that, and the results may or may not surprise you depending on how much stock you put in press release boasting.

Is it okay for a professional photographer to try and crowdfund a new camera? It seems like the answer to that is No, if you go by the response to pro wedding photographer Stephen Yanni's recent GoFundMe campaign. A campaign that raised no money, but a whole lot of outrage, before being ultimately pulled.

Alright, the rumor sites are giving this another shot. After getting the announcement date wrong the first time -- it seems that February 11th event was not related to the D4s at all -- Nikon Rumors is confidently reporting that the camera will get its official announcement on February 25th.

Well, February 11th came and went without so much as a peep about the D4s. It seems that invitation for a special Nikon event didn't have to do with the new flagship after all.

But have no fear, because earlier today, Adorama accidentally (or at least it seemed accidental) listed the yet-unannounced camera alongside some new specs that, at least according to the well-informed folks at Nikon Rumors, seem wrong...

The time is almost here for Nikon fans. Nikon Rumors is reporting that as of yesterday, the D4 has officially been discontinued and is out of stock or back-ordered at all the major online retailers. This, of course, comes just in time for the D4s launch.

Nikon already revealed that the D4s is in the works -- the company even had one on display in a 'so-close-and-yet-so-far' glass case at CES -- but so far, we've had very little info about the camera itself. Officially, we know that the new flagship will feature a new image processor and "more advanced autofocusing performance," but thanks to Nikon Rumors, we now know a bit more.

One of the most simultaneously exciting and vague photography announcements to come out of CES this year was the official confirmation that Nikon's new flagship D4S is on the way. And even though very few details were revealed -- find out about those here -- attendees were given the opportunity to stare longingly at a D4S that the Nikon folks had brought with them to their booth.
