Samyang Optics has announced two new premium cinema prime lenses as part of its XEEN Meister family. The 14mm T2.4 and 24mm T1.3 cine lenses are fast full-frame lenses designed for PL, Canon EF, and Sony E mount cameras.

Samyang introduced its XEEN Cinema Prime lenses in 2015 with the XEEN Classic family of lenses. Since then, XEEN has expanded to include the Meister lenses, the company’s premium offering.

“The Meister series stands out by combining competitive pricing with exceptional quality, rendering it an irresistible choice for professionals in the field, including filmmakers and cinematographers,” explains Samyang Optics.

The new 14mm and 24mm XEEN Meister lenses join the existing 35mm T1.3, 50mm T1.3, and 85mm T1.3 cinema lenses. Adding the new wider lenses significantly expands the creative options available to filmmakers.

“Comprising a comprehensive array of five prime lenses, this lineup excels in optical performance, boasting remarkable high resolution and delivering images of pristine clarity and sharpness,” says Samyang.

Samyang has designed its XEEN Meister lenses to work well at 8K resolution, future-proofing its series as filmmakers transition from 4K to 8K recording technology. Each of the two new lenses has a 13-bladed aperture diaphragm and unique optical technology to control internal reflections while delivering a distinctive cinematic look.

Each XEEN Meister lens includes a standard 114mm front diameter — save for the 14mm lens, which has a 134mm front diameter — and 300 degrees of rotation for precise focus pulls. Each lens in the series includes a unified aperture and focus gear ring position. The lens’s focal length and aperture value markings glow in the dark, ensuring easy operation in dim environments.

Samyang has yet to announce the pricing for either of its new XEEN Meister cinema lenses. However, the three existing XEEN Meister lenses are available for $8,495 each. It is reasonable to think that the new XEEN Meister 14mm T2.4 and XEEN Meister 24mm T1.3 cinema lenses will follow suit and cost $8,495 or something similar.

Samyang will be at the upcoming International Broadcasting Conference (IBC) in Amsterdam from September 15-18 to show its entire lineup of XEEN Meister lenses. Detailed pricing and availability information may be shared at IBC.
