What the Sigma 28-45mm lacks in zoom range it seems to make up in versatility and the results are sharp and optically well-corrected.

I would say that if you are in that focal range, like that's exactly what I need and I wish that I had a 1.8 instead of a 2.8 option, which is what most of the ones are, then I can vouch for this lens being optically sound [...]

The Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN Art lens is a one-of-a-kind for both L-Mount and Sony E cameras. It puts the exquisite, bright optics of a prime into a zoom design that covers a reasonable focal range.

It’s a unique lens that offers great speed and quality to rival three prime lenses, but isn’t particularly cheap or compact. If you can live with its limited zoom range, it’s a lens you will cherish.

This is a great workhorse lens. With a 28 to 45 range, you can shoot pretty much anything, and that aperture constant f/1.8 gives you beautiful images and superior optical performance, exactly like you would expect from an Art series lens.

While this does have some compromises, it is about as close to a perfect zoom lens as I have ever come across because I think the size is just small enough that it is worth carrying around, and while I would have loved a tiny bit more reach [...]

  • I'm going to do like a silhouette, do like a f/16 silhouette, and despite those couple missed images in the dynamic situations, like I freaking love the images from that Sigma 28-45mm f/1.8 DG DN Art lens. They look like a prime lens on a zoom, which is something that I love.
