Reviewer Consensus
Good
Nikon 1 V3 offers impressive autofocus speed and high-frame-rate burst shooting in a compact body, making it a capable tool for action photography. That said, the camera is hampered by a high price point, reliance on proprietary accessories, and a small sensor that struggles in low-light conditions.

- DPReview 76/100
The Nikon 1 V3 is one of the few mirrorless cameras we'd recommend for shooting sports or quickly moving kids.
-
At the end of the day, though, this still strikes us as a niche camera, albeit one that’s noticeably better than its predecessors in experienced hands.
-
The Nikon 1 V3 is a very good camera and I enjoyed shooting with it a lot more than I anticipated.
-
There’s no denying that some aspects of the Nikon 1 V3 are impressive, particularly the super-fast AF and burst shooting speeds. That said, the V3 still seems quite a confused model when everything’s taken into account.
-
The Nikon 1 V3 with extreme high-speed shooting offers something unique in the camera market and offers a well-rounded package of options and features, making the Nikon 1 V3 highly recommended.
-
Nikon have made some big changes to their flagship compact system camera, which is now seemingly targeted at more casual consumers, rather than the keen enthusiast that the previous V2 specifically catered for.
-
Great to use and part of an ever expanding system, the Nikon V3 is the company's best CSC yet.
-
[W]ith its many professional features such as high speed AF and continuous shooting, abundance of megapixels and excellent video quality, we certainly feel that the V3 could easily take the place of an entry level DSLR as far as quality is concerned.
- Photo Review 8.5/10
Although its still imaging performance is excellent for its relatively small sensor size, it’s difficult to recommend the Nikon 1 V3 enthusiastically [...]
-
From everything I could see while I was using the Nikon 1 V3, all of the changes from the previous Nikon 1 series cameras are an improvement with the V3, and most changes are a big improvement.
-
There are just too many rookie mistakes made on this camera for me to wholeheartedly recommend it. On the other hand, it still has many of the attributes we liked in the original and the external control problem is (mostly) fixed.
-
The Nikon 1V3 might be a relic of a failed experiment, but it's also proof that good gear doesn't need to have a big sensor, a cult following, or a second digit in the model I'm.
-
All in all, so far so good with this little giant.
-
The 1 V3 is faster and, in many ways, more capable than a DSLR. It’s also cheaper, lighter, and smaller.
-
You have all the options in the camera, you have electronic viewfinder, you have the real good control monitor, you have everything in the camera you need.
