The Fujifilm X70 is a highly portable, stylish compact camera that pairs an APS-C sensor with a sharp prime lens to deliver excellent image quality. While it lacks a built-in viewfinder and struggles with video performance, it remains a favorite for street photography due to its intuitive manual controls and inconspicuous design.

What the Reviewers Say

  • DPReview 76/100

The Fujifilm X70 is definitely one of the simplest 28mm-equivalent APS-C compact cameras on the market.

[F]ujifilm's X70 is the smallest and lightest way to enjoy the company's renowned image quality, and for many photographers, that's all they need to know.

Of course, I came back with more photos than I took on my vacation last year, so I can't really complain. The X70 was a more fun and less obtrusive camera than the ones I typically shoot with. It's not the perfect travel camera, but it's one of the best.

  • WIRED 8/10

It excels as an all-around travel camera, a street photography camera, or as a pocket camera for times when anything more would be overkill.

The Fujifilm X70 is a solid pocket-friendly compact camera with an SLR-sized image sensor and a tilting touch-screen display.

It's small, well made, has traditional exposure controls and it produces the quality of images that they have come to expect.

Fuji X70 is my daily camera I bought it with that intention and I don’t regret even a tiny bit.

  • CNET 8/10

Despite it’s quirks, the Fujifilm X70 definitely makes my short list for enthusiast compacts, and if photo quality is your top priority, then it’s a top choice for less than $800.

[I]f you love the X100 series, and X series cameras in general, there is no reason you shouldn’t feel the same way about the X70.

[A]fter spending over a week testing the X70 in our labs and out in the field, we're in agreement: this is our favorite point-and-shoot on the market right now.

In all, it’s really a very good camera, but I don’t know if it’s quite good enough to justify spending $700, considering the fixed lens.

The X70 is unusual mix of retro and modern design with its exposure dials and articulated touchscreen, but for me it’s a winning combination.

If you want the smallest camera you can buy while maintaining top-notch image quality, I can’t think of any other camera that performs better than this one. There are other cameras about this size, maybe a little smaller, that can fit in the pocket.

[I]f you can live with no viewfinder, the X70 is a hoot, delivering DSLR or better images in any light from a tiny, jewel-like package.

[I]t gets so many things right. If you're like me and you don't mind shooting JPEG [...] the JPEGs out of camera with the presets they're just gonna be stellar, but that autofocus just kills me.

[T]he X70 excels in the streets, but it is not just made for street photographers, it is a great grab and go camera for anyone that wants to document life one frame at a time.

Like I said, I'm actually impressed with the performance. I think the images are sharp, the colors look great, the overall ergonomics of the camera just makes sense, but in terms of value for money, I think what really kind of puts me off it, it really is just the price tag.

I think the camera is great for street photography and I think it's great to bring it to places where your DSLR couldn't normally go, but the video mode is a huge bummer.
