Reviewer Consensus

Strong

The Canon R6 V is a video-first, full-frame camera that provides creators with professional-grade tools like 7K open gate recording, active cooling, and sensor-based stabilization in a compact, user-friendly body. While it excels at streamlining production for vloggers and filmmakers, the omission of an electronic viewfinder and a mechanical shutter makes it less suitable for traditional stills photography.

What the Reviewers Say

All 21 expert reviews, weighted into the PixelMeter score.

  • Amateur Photographer

With in-body stabilisation, familiar controls and a competitive price, the Canon EOS R6 V is an excellent choice for photographers moving into video. But the screen isn’t great and there’s no EVF.

All of that to say, though, as you might have guessed, the R6 V is a phenomenal tool for video makers who also want a very capable stills camera, and obviously, it has to come highly recommended.

  • The conclusion is that the R6 V is a camera with a niche of its own, and within that area is a very fine camera that delivers the goods. For a general purpose camera, Canon offers many choices and the R6 Mark III may be a safer bet.

I think Canon made a very competitive camera in the R6 V and I think it's going to sell really well based on that it has a lot of specifications, it has active cooling and it has IBIS and a fantastic price.
