Nextorage Debuts New 1TB SD Card for Pro Video Work

Nextorage Corporation has announced the NX-F2AE Series, a trio of new UHS-II SDXC memory cards that promise high-end speed and reliability for demanding video workflows.
While a lot of attention in recent years has been on CFexpress Type A and Type B cards, many photographers and videographers still use SD cards in their cameras, either as their primary storage or as backup in case they fill up their CFexpress card. SD cards are an important tool for many creators.
Nextorage says the NX-F2AE Series is its Advanced Edition SDXC UHS-II card, which means the cards were designed specifically for professional video production applications.
“As high-resolution, high-bitrate video formats such as 4K and 8K continue to become increasingly common, the demand for memory cards capable of delivering both large storage capacities and stable long-duration recording has grown significantly,” Nextorage explains. “The NX-F2AE Series was designed to meet these requirements, providing reliable and uninterrupted recording performance for demanding video applications.”
As expected, given the billing, the new SD cards have a V90 rating, the highest video speed class for SD cards. This means the cards guarantee a minimum sustained write speed of 90 MB/s. Overall, the cards promise read and write speeds up to 300 MB/s.
Nextorage recommends using the cards alongside its NX-DF1CL Dual-Slot SD Card Reader. The card reader supports the UHS-II interface for both slots, meaning that each card can offload files at full speed.
“Whether shooting in 4K, 6K, or 8K resolution, or capturing high-frame-rate footage, the card delivers stable performance under heavy data workloads while minimizing the risk of dropped frames and recording interruptions,” Nextorage promises.
The new cards are available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB capacities. For video applications in particular, larger cards are often preferred as 8K footage can take up considerable space in short order.
Professionals have rigorous reliability demands as well, and Nextorage says its new SD cards have passed a series of seven durability and protection tests. Specifically, the cards are rated to operate in temperatures from -25° to 85° C (-13° to 185° F), shock-resistant for drops from heights up to 1.5 meters (4.9 feet), and bend-resistant up to 10 Newtons. The cards are also tested for 10,000 connector matings and are resistant to X-rays, magnets, and electrostatic discharge.
The Nextorage NX-F2AE Series SD cards start at $299.99 for the 256GB size. The 512GB card is $529.99, while the 1TB one is $999.99. All three cards are available today.
