Godox Launches New Full-Color Ring Light for Content Creators
Godox has announced the Litemons SR20R, a new full-color LED light panel designed for mobile content creators, including those using smartphones and gimbal cameras like the DJI Osmo Pocket and Insta360 Luna series.
The Litemons SR20R has a ring-shaped light that wraps around a phone or gimbal camera and is designed for photography, livestreaming, vlogging, and other short-form video production.
“Its flattering light quality makes it suitable for portraits, livestreams, vlogs, and other applications where natural-looking skin tones are essential,” Godox says.
The SR20R works alongside smartphone camera apps and can be controlled via a dedicated Bluetooth-enabled app on the user’s phone or manually using on-device controls. The light features full-color RGB lighting, 14 built-in lighting effects, and can be controlled across the Kelvin color temperature range. Godox promises CRI and TLCI ratings above 96, meaning the light stays stable and accurate across its 2800 to 6500K CCT range.
As for power, the SR20R’s bare light delivers 1510 lux at 1.6 feet or 393 lux at 3.3 feet. This is enough for close-up work and can even overpower outdoor light in some conditions. Thanks to its large built-in 4,800mAh lithium battery, the light promises 1.5 hours of runtime at 100% brightness. The light recharges via USB-C and can charge from 0 to 100% in just over two hours.
Although built with smartphones and content creator-friendly gimbal cameras in mind, using a sliding 1/4-20″ mount adapters, users can also attach an action camera or even full-size interchangeable lens camera to the ring light, provided it is not excessively large. The mount can also slide to the ends for use in vertical orientation. There are also three 1/4-20″ threaded holes on the exterior of the light, meaning it can be attached directly to a light stand.
This is far from Godox’s first light designed specifically for content creators. Just this week, the company also announced the A2, a new magnetic flash/LED hybrid light that attaches directly to the back of a smartphone. The company makes lights for a wide range of customers these days, from mobile content creators to full-blown studio professionals.
