Mom Sues Universal Orlando Over Ride Photo Showing Her Son Unconscious on Rollercoaster

A mother is suing Universal Orlando Resort after a ride photo allegedly captured her nine-year-old son unconscious and unresponsive on a rollercoaster.
Jennifer Lundy filed a lawsuit against Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida, over an incident involving her young son on the theme park’s Stardust Racers rollercoaster on October 13, 2025.
Lundy clams her son, who is known as L.L. in court documents, lost consciousness and suffered numerous injuries on the Stardust Racers rollercoaster, which is located at Universal Epic Universe, a separate theme park at the Universal Orlando Resort.

In a lawsuit filed on August 17, Lundy claims her nine-year-old son met the required height of 48 inches for the rollercoaster, which reportedly reaches speeds of up to 62 mph and heights up to 133 feet. According to a report by People, Lundy says that while L.L. was on the Stardust Racers rollercoaster, he “lost consciousness as a result of the forces generated by the attraction.”
According to the complaint, L.L. lost consciousness during the ride, causing his head and face to be “thrown against the hard surface of the ride vehicle.” The lawsuit alleges there was no restraint or other support to keep his head, neck or upper body in place. The ride’s on-board camera allegedly captured her son unconscious in the vehicle, and the resulting photo was included as evidence in the lawsuit. The on-ride photograph captured L.L. slumped over and unresponsive inside the vehicle.
L.L. allegedly suffered injuries to his head and face, as well as orthopedic and spinal injuries. He required medical assistance after the ride ended, and Lundy claims the incident left him with severe and permanent injuries.
“As a direct and proximate result, Stardust Racers caused L.L. to sustain blunt impact injuries to his head and face, together with orthopedic and spinal injuries,” the lawsuit claims.
Lundy wants medical care and treatment expenses to be paid for. She is seeking more than $50,000 in damages on behalf of her son.
The lawsuit argues that Stardust Racers has been linked to a broader pattern of serious injuries, rather than isolated incidents. It cites the September 2025 death of 32-year-old Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, who lost consciousness during the ride and died from multiple blunt impact injuries. His family later reached an undisclosed settlement with Universal after conducting an independent investigation.
According to People, Universal Orlando’s lawyers placed responsibility for the alleged incident and injuries on L.L.’s parents in its September 18 response to Lundy’s lawsuit. The park argued the family were “negligent in failing to use reasonable care for L.L.’s safety.” The theme park also claims that “Lundy knowingly and voluntarily assumed the risks associated with L.L. riding a thrill ride, including the potential for significant acceleration, deceleration, lateral forces, and head and body movement.”
