Accomplished fashion and portrait photographer Lindsay Adler has collaborated with lighting company Westcott yet again, this time for a new product built for photographers with a lot of gear to organize, the Westcott Float Wall Mount System.

Designed by Adler and manufactured by Westcott, the Float Wall Mount System series comprises seven products, each designed to mount to the wall and keep various camera equipment organized and off the floor.

“Get your gear off the floor, out of the closet, and put it in an easily accessible location that also looks great,” Adler explains, adding that the secret to her studio organization system is the Float Wall Mount system. “This allows me to mount a variety of modifiers, strobes, and other tools to my wall, which saves me time, keeps me organized, and helps me look professional.”

The Float Wall Mount System can be permanently attached to the wall in a couple of ways. The rings designed for mounting specific gear can be directly connected to the wall. Or, if someone is unsure precisely which equipment they want to hang where, they can attach a base plate to the wall and then swap out different adapters to that base plate.

For example, Adler uses strobes with Profoto modifiers for some shoots and continuous lights with Bowens modifiers at other times. Using the base plate and adapter approach, she can change these on the fly. Of course, other photographers may only use one style of modifier and do not need this level of flexibility. Attaching the specific mount speedring right to the wall should work well in those cases.

“This system allows me to do so many different things. It allows me to look professional, to be organized, to save time. But really, the main takeaway is that this is studio organization simplified,” Adler says.

The Westcott Float Wall Mount System by Lindsay Adler starts at $20 for a single speedring mount that comes in Bowens, Elinchrom, and Profoto variants, and ranges up to $60 for the Westcott Float Wall Mount Arm Kit. For a flexible approach, there is the Westcott Float Wall Mount Base and Adapter Kit for $45. This requires an individual mount for a photographer’s specific gear. Additional accessories and components are also available directly from Westcott.
