Leica announced back in February that it’s “reinventing” mobile photography by partnering with the Chinese smartphone giant Huawei. We soon got a glimpse of a leaked Huawei P9 phone with dual, supposedly Leica-made, cameras. Now the company has confirmed it: the upcoming Huawei P9 was created with Leica.

“We are going to launch our P9 flagship phone very soon and this is a product that we worked with Leica to produce,” said Huawei deputy chairman Guo Ping, according to AFP. “We need to work with the strongest partners in this area to provide the best product.”

A newer photo of the Huawei P9 has leaked, and this one shows that the dual camera has Leica branding next to it. The text says that it’s Leica Summarit lenses in the camera, and that the cameras will have an f/2.2 aperture and a 27mm focal length (no word yet on the size of the sensors):

The leaked photo was confirmed today GSMArena thanks to a leaked render showing the same cameras and branding:

The previous photos leaked by VentureBeat showed the dual cameras but lacked Leica branding:

The Huawei P9 is expected to be announced on April 9th, 2016, so stay tuned!
