Inspiration: Take a Stunning 4K Time-Lapse Trip Across the US in Five Minutes

Last month we featured A Day In the Life of Roadtrippers time-lapse photographer Joel Schat — a wonderful, jealousy-inducing BTS look at Schat’s travels. And today we have for you the product of those many days spent traveling across the country, cameras in tow. No surprise: it’s a beauty.

Produced in 4K, this demo-reel of Schat’s footage is full of variety, spot-on composition and many more things we could praise him for. National parks seem to be the main location for many of these sunsets, night skies, and fog rolling over the mountain scenes, which together create an impressive montage of the scenery the United States has to offer.

It comes in at five minutes and is definitely worth adding to your queue if you like a bit of wanderlust with your ham and cheese sandwich at lunch. And if you want a glimpse at how Schat creates masterful time-lapses like this, check out our earlier coverage here.

Thanks for sending in the tip, Paul!

Beautiful images, no doubt about that.
I hope someday the timelapsers will get off the sad slow music track kick. Most every TL out there has the same style of plodding, epic, majestic, serious and meaningful, slowly build to crescendo of the sunrise musical track…Like the images aren’t majestic enough!

This video contains locations in Canada (ie: Lake Louise, AB) so it’s not just the US.

    Nice.
It did however show some scenes that in my opinion would work better in straight movie mode – balloons for instance. they just get too jerky. Time lapse distracted rather than enhanced.

    Effing amazing work!

Really lovely and impressive, wow! level takes here, masterly, but TL in general seems now to be just a set of cliches*. Starry skies (oh god not another starry sky !), glide, balloons, glide, aurora borealis, glide, cars/planes speeding by, tent/campervan at night, etc. All at an unvarying pace.
Now create something that tells me a story.

    *or is that just me.

i’ll just switch over to my 4k monitor… oh wait.
