The Perfect Travel Camera? The Sony a7CR on Safari in Brazil

The wetlands of Brazil’s Pantanal region aren’t as well known as the Amazon, but it’s still home to an incredibly diverse ecosystem. With dozens of species of mammals and rodents and hundreds of species of birds, it is a wildlife photographer’s dream. Jaguars roam the shoes of the river while capybara and caiman flee from the hunting cats. Birds are everywhere you look, and their calls are pervasive throughout the day.

Sony Alpha 7 IV Review: The Best Camera Sony Has Ever Made… Almost

Three and a half years ago, Sony made a statement with the Alpha 7 III. The company wanted to plant the idea that its “base model” did not mean basic. At the time, that camera was specced beyond its price, and it hit everyone by surprise. Now, with the Alpha 7 IV, our expectations are much higher. Did Sony do it again?

Well, today those people have their answer in the form of the a77 II -- in other words, a resounding "No."

Out on the Road: Getting to Know the Sony a7 and a7R

This last week, I had the great pleasure of joining many of my fellow writers from other major photo and tech news outlets for a week of fun and photography with Sony in Nashville, TN. Basically, the event gave us all a chance to test out the new mirrorless full-frame a7 and a7R cameras (as well as the RX10, which I'll hit on in another post) in a variety of situations, with Sony artisans and engineers on hand to answer all of our questions.
