You may argue that it is just another kit lens but unlike its remote cousins it is obviously one stop faster.
-
This lens definitely comes highly recommended.
-
The Fujinon XF 18–55 mm f/2.8–4 OIS is a solid lens but, to tell you the truth, I really cannot decide whether it is only so much or that much.
-
The Fujifilm XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 OIS lens has excellent sharpness in the centre with effective optical stabilisation.
-
The Fujifilm XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R LM OIS is much more than just a standard kit lens.
- Photo Review 8.8/10
Buy this lens if [y]ou want capable general-purpose lens for Fujifilm interchangeable-lens cameras.
-
Affordable, reliable mid-range zoom with versatile focal range and fast maximum aperture.
-
Because the zoom is darned sharp and optically quite a good performer across the board. It's just a heck of a lot more convenient, and being f/2.8-4, it's not all that slow a lens, either.
-
One of the most appealing aspects of this lens is its versatility, catering to a wide range of photographic genres, from street to portrait to landscape.
-
I like this lens a lot. It feels great to shoot, it's a stop faster than the crappy plastic 18-55mm imitations from Nikon and Canon, and everything I shot with it is always sharp, in perfect focus and never with any camera-shake induced blur, even in very dark conditions.

The many features of the Fuji XF 18-55mm lens make it the king of kit lenses for me. None of the others combine such outstanding robustness and a wide maximum aperture, and many don’t offer such impressive optical performance or image stabilization.
-
The fact that this lens is still offered as the go to “kit lens” on the X-T4 underlines my strong belief in it. This is a lens that offers balcony box views for cheap seat prices.
-
The bottom line is that this zoom is one awesome lens. [...] This lens can do it all, which is what many want in a zoom.
-
Plainly spoken, the XF 18-55mm is such a joy to use. Everything works as you would expect.

Bar my minor gripe with sharpness (caveated with the fact I’ve probably bought a duff used lens), I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this lens to anyone with a Fujifilm camera [...] whether you’re just starting out or whether you’re a seasoned travel photographer.
