The GFX 100S is Fujifilm’s most compelling digital medium format camera to date, taking the advances of the earlier 100 and squeezing them into a body that’s considerably more compact and less than two thirds the price.

By all accounts, this camera is a bit slower than its competitors, so I’m not sure I could recommend it to a lifestyle, sport, or even pet photographer.

  • The relatively small camera body of the Fujifilm GFX100S, along with the built-in IBIS system, means you can use the camera like any other DSLR, without having to always use a tripod, and this makes it an enjoyable camera to use.

The superb image quality offered by a medium-format model often comes at a cost – and not just a monetary one. While the GFX100S remains expensive, it’s smaller, lighter and easier to use than most cameras of its type, and on the price front it’s over [...]

Like its predecessor, the GFX 100S isn’t perfect – its autofocus performance may not suit every shooting scenario and its image stabilization doesn’t quite match what it says on the tin, but all that gets trumped by the image quality you’re going to get from this camera.

The Fujifilm GFX100S uses a stabilized medium format sensor to capture images with stunning resolution and makes only a few concessions compared with the much more expensive GFX100.

  • GFX100S is an ideal choice for commercial and wedding photography, particularly with one of Fujifilm’s excellent prime lenses. The 32-64mm zoom lens is a good match for the camera for ‘walkaround’ shooting, whether it’s street photography or fairly gently bushwalking.

This is the new Fujifilm GFX 100S medium format camera. And it is without a doubt, the single best camera that I've ever used.

The GFX100S is arguably the most accessible 100MP+ digital medium format camera yet, while offering the stellar dynamic range, detail and narrow depth-of-field associated with the sensor size.

So to wrap this up, I have very much enjoyed my time with the Fujifilm GFX100S and it definitely delivered images beyond what I was expecting for a number of reasons.

The GFX 100S is not only a technical marvel priced extremely aggressively, it is a camera that performs so close to many full frame and crop sensor cameras that it toes the line of being an everyday camera for many types of photography.

[T]his is a super impressive camera capable of a lot, and at this much smaller size, this is a 900 gram body, this is totally hand-holdable one-handed if you really want to.

I think this is absolutely unique what you get here. I don't think I've seen a combination of an 80 millimeter medium format lens with such a wide open aperture on a medium format camera before and I think is something where I a million times enjoyed.

Fujifilm GFX 100S As a photographer who is used to lugging heavy equipment, I found the GFX 100S to be a relatively easy camera to incorporate into my way of working. For me, the benefits quite literally outweigh the negatives.

So is all the pain in the ass of the slow autofocus and the fact that I got to clean the sensor like once a week and all that, is it worth it? I think it is worth it, however it's worth less than it used to be.

So for me, look, I like it, it's cool, medium format definitely has a future, and I don't want it to go away, and I really want to see Fuji keep innovating in the space, but as of right now, we still have some time to go.
