Lensbaby’s New Omni Collections Create Wacky and Wild Photo Effects

Seven years ago, Lensbaby unveiled the creative Omni Filter System. Now Lensbaby is back with the fresh Omni Color II and Omni Crystal II collections, introducing even more ways to dramatically change the look of photos and videos in-camera.

The Omni Creative Filter System is effectively a manual filtration system. The user decides where and how to apply the filter, and moving it across the frame can significantly alter the overall look. This is especially true with the filters that reflect and distort light.

A gray felt carrying case with an "omni" logo sits behind an assortment of colorful photography filters, two clips, and a crystal prism.

For hands-free shooting, the Omni filter effect wands also work with optional magnets and a magnetic filter ring. This also lets photographers use multiple Omni filters at once, creating a menagerie of effects in a single frame.

The Omni Color II Collection includes eight new creative filters. Five colored film sheets give images a yellow, orange, red, green, or blue color cast, either on part of the photo or across the entire frame.

There are also three new flexible films that can be curved and rolled to change their effects. These add color and texture to the frame and come in Blue Diamond, Gold Diamond, and Dark Pink Diamond varieties.

Based on the sample photos Lensbaby has published, the effects range from subtle extra color and flare to full-scale special effects that transform the entire photo.

The new Omni Crystal II collection includes three “crystals,” each affixed to a magnetic wand. Each offers a different effect, adding distortion, flare, reflections, and colorful shapes and patterns to photos and videos.

A gray felt pouch with an "omni" label sits behind three decorative, crystal-like tools with black hexagonal shanks.

The Bat Prism has scalloped edges that create fragmented reflections and mirrored details. The Melon Wedge creates shifting, prismatic color reflections. The Repeater divides subjects in a scene into repeating segments, creating interesting rhythmic patterns.

There’s also a new limited edition Silver and Gold collection. This collection features five reflective effects with silver and gold surfaces.
