Okay, the Sony FX5 Really Is Going to Launch This Time

This is not a drill. The Sony FX5 really is coming this time. Adorama says the highly anticipated cinema camera is truly launching in November.
As Sony Alpha Rumors reports, Adorama emailed customers, saying the Sony FX5 will release in November.
“We’re pleased to share an update on the Sony FX5,” Adorama writes. “Sony has completed its final quality assurance process. Based on the latest information, customer delivers are currently anticipated in early to mid-November. Thank you for your patience and continued support. We look forward to getting your FX5 to you as soon as possible.”
As of right now, Adorama lists the Sony FX5 release date as November 15, 2026, which aligns with what some official Sony websites began listing earlier this month. Sony Germany and France both listed the FX5’s updated shipping date as November 16, which was one month later than previous estimates. As of yet, neither B&H nor Sony USA has updated its store listings to show a release date.
The Sony FX5 has had a tough start. After being announced in July with an expected August launch, the camera was officially delayed to September, then October, and now, finally, November.
Interestingly, Adorama’s messaging seems to confirm part of why the FX5 was delayed in the first place. As PetaPixel reported early this month, some early customers who received the FX5 experienced issues with the rear LCD, including it separating from the plastic. In Adorama’s email to customers, it specifically references Sony’s “final quality assurance process,” which aligns with well-founded speculation that the company is isolating and resolving a manufacturing issue.
Understandably, some prospective Sony FX5 buyers might not feel comfortable believing anything about release dates and shipping times until they actually have the FX5 in hand. Plenty of hopes have been dashed before.
PetaPixel is keen to get hands-on time with final production units to complete its comprehensive review, but early impressions have delivered plenty of cause for excitement. The FX5 and its new 16-megapixel sensor deliver top-notch video quality and features. It looks like Sony has a winner on its hands.
