Rode Capture is a Free Video and Audio Recording App for iPhone
Rode has announced Rode Capture, a new app for recording video and audio that not only provides an excellent interface with Rode’s microphones but also offers a ton of video recording flexibility.
Along with a microphone also announced today, Rode is also launching a new free iOS video app called Rode Capture, which is designed with today’s content creators in mind and is meant to pair with the new Wireless ME (or other Rode mics) to form a complete platform for making content on iPhone.
Rode says that its new Capture app allows creators to take full control over video and audio capture in one app, allowing them to create content that both looks and sounds good.
This includes turning features on and off, activating digital signal processing, adjusting audio levels, and advanced configuration, so users can get the most out of these powerful, next-generation microphones and adapt to different recording scenarios seamlessly. No other video app offers direct control of an external microphone, making RØDE Capture (combined with a RØDE mic) the perfect solution for creators who want to record professional audio for their mobile content.
The app can turn features on and off, can activate digital signal processing, be used to adjust audio levels, and provides other advanced configuration.
“No other video app offers direct control of an external microphone, making RØDE Capture (combined with a RØDE mic) the perfect solution for creators who want to record professional audio for their mobile content,” the company says.
The app is described as fully-featured and includes control over aspect ratio, video resolution, frame rate, zoom, and even has a Dual Cam mode to record with both the front and back cameras simultaneously, either in split screen and picture-in-picture mode.
“The release of the Wireless ME and Rode Capture mark another milestone in the evolution of creator technology and another step in Rode’s mission to provide high-quality, accessible audio solutions for today’s creative generation,” the company says.
Rode now enters a market with a lot of competition, but it might have an advantage even over longstanding options. Rode is one of just a few companies that makes hardware and software and combines them like this, meaning it might be easier and more seamless to work with Rode Connect and Rode Mics than, say, attempting the same with Filmic Pro. Rode Capture is also free, which is a huge advantage.
The Rode Capture app is available immediately for iOS.
