Westcott’s New L60-B is World’s Smallest 60W COB LED Video Light
Westcott has announced the new L60-B 60W Bi-Color COB LED, an “ultra-portable” 60-wat bi-color light designed for video and photo content creators.
According to Westcott, the new light is 20% smaller than any other COB LED on the market and has an impressive output for its 3.2 by 3.2 by 5.5 inch size with up to 2,700 lux at one meter with a bare setup, and up to 15,000 lux at one meter with the included 45-degree Ultra Reflector.
The light is fully dimmable and adjustable with a color temperature range of 2,700 to 6,500K with a color accuracy rating of up to 97 CRI, 98 TLCI, and 88 SSI while providing flicker-free lighting for shooting at up to 1,000 frames per second. The company says this makes the new light “work excellent for run-and-gun filmmaking, video interviews, YouTube, TikTok filming, still photography, and more.”
In addition, the L60-B includes nine built-in effects that Wescott says make it easy for creatives to simulate multiple lighting scenarios. The lighting presets include lighting strikes, fire-flickers, TV Screen flickers, faulty light bulbs, pulsing, paparazzi flashes, SOS signals, headlights, and emergency lights. Users can select, control, and adjust these presets and additional settings through the dial on the back of the light, or by leveraging the free Westcott StudioLink mobile app for iOS and Android devices.
The new light boasts an incredibly small and lightweight footprint. Weighing just 1.45 pounds (0.7 kilograms), the L60-B features a durable and heat-resistant metal housing with two multi-function dials on the back of the light. The dials sit beneath a small LCD digital display, allowing users to navigate the lights menu and change settings with precision adjustments for brightness, color temperature, and lighting special effects.
The L60-B light can be used with the included AC power adapter or portable powered by NP-F or D-Tap batteries (sold separately) which the company positions as making it incredibly easy to bring the light to any location. In addition to the portability, the new light features a Westcott mini light mount adapter to connect to a variety of Westcott Rapid Box Switch Light modifiers (up to three pounds) as well as the native diffusion dome, snoot, gel, and umbrella mounts (also sold separately).
The $269.90 L60-B Bi Color COB LED light is available on its own, or as part of a bundle that includes a one-light ($449) or two-light ($699) kit that pairs the L60-B LED with the versatile Rapid Box Switch Octa-S softbox and 45-degree Ultra Reflector for “maximum light intensity,” and backpack with large storage compartments for easy travel. Additionally, the L60-B light is available in a three-Light Travel Lighting Kit ($849) that includes Westcott Mini light mount adapters for extensive compatibility with the Rapid Box Switch light modifiers (up to three pounds).
