This photo of Milford Sound, however, was taken on O’Brien’s first visit to New Zealand. “With this image,” he told PetaPixel, “I wanted to draw all of the viewers attention to the mountains and the waterfall, so I smoothed out the water and the sky by making a long exposure, using my 15-stop ND filter.”

Martin Kiessling, on Instagram as @martin.kiessling, is a Stockholm-based portrait photographer. Kiessling told PetaPixel through email that his black-and-white series of photos originated as a technical pursuit, but grew into something different. “Through this project I realized that a good vibe in the studio and genuine conversations with the people I’m photographing is way more important than just having the perfect lightning or the most expensive glass,” he said.

Brent Zeiss is a nature and landscape photographer based out of Newport Beach, California and can be found on Instagram as @brentzeiss. “When I shoot it’s like a sudden burst of energy,” Zeiss said. “I love photography and everything about it.”

This photo specifically is special to Breckwoldt not only for depicting the deep dream-like fog that all photographers love to play in, but discovered in post-processing is that the ferry boat’s name is the same as his girlfriend’s.

Christie Berube, known as @christieqphotography on Instagram, is a wedding photographer based out of Salt Lake City, Utah.
