Film photographer and YouTuber Willem Verbeek has released a helpful video for beginners that covers his 8 favorite film photography hacks and tips. Some are useful, some are obvious, and some are just good sense.
As Verbeek explains at the top of the video, these aren’t “mindblowing” tricks or hacks that are going to turn your world upside down. What we’re looking at here are a few helpful tips—particularly relevant for beginners—that range from how to recover a film leader that’s been accidentally retracted inside your roll of film, to products that every film photographer should consider buying (like a good light meter).
If you’re just starting out with film photography, you can add this to your list of videos to watch while self-isolating. And if you’re a seasoned shooter, help out the newbies by sharing your favorite film photography hacks and tips in the comments down below.
