A Newborn Photo with the 1,616 IVF Needles That Led to Her Birth

Arizona photographer Samantha Packer captured this powerful photo of a newborn surrounded by the 1,616 in vitro fertilisation (IVF) syringes her parents used to conceive her.

Patricia and Kimberley O’Neill struggled with infertility and went through a journey of 4 years, 7 attempts, 3 miscarriages, and 1,616 IVF shots before their daughter London was conceived and born.

When the O’Neills asked Packer to shoot newborn photos of their new daughter, they asked if she could include all the needles they went through — she had saved every one — to powerfully show how much love went into bringing London into their family.

Packer spent over an hour arranging hundreds of the needles in the shape of a heart around London.

After sharing the photo on Facebook earlier this month, Packer watched it go viral with thousands of comments and tens of thousands of shares.

“We would just hope that our picture can give others hope and perseverance to push forward,” the O’Neills tell FOX8.
