Magic Lantern Has Officially Cracked Into the Canon 5D Mark IV

Great news Canon lovers. That new 5D Mark IV you just bought won’t be limited to the manufacturer firmware for too much longer. It seems the talented hackers at Magic Lantern have already managed to break into the new camera.

The eagle-eyed folks at Canon Rumors spotted the news when it broke earlier on the Magic Lantern forums. But, while this is definitely reason to celebrate, it’s important to note that this is just the first of many steps to come. We don’t expect a working build to come out for another few months at least.

In the meantime, keep an eye on the ML forums for up-to-the-minute progress updates and we’ll be sure to update you here on PetaPixel as soon as a working build is released.
