No Surprises Here: Fujifilm Officially Announces the X-Pro1

Pretty much everything we wanted to know about the Fujifilm X-Pro1 was leaked over the weekend, but now the camera finally transitioned from the world of rumors into official reality. Fujifilm unveiled the X-Pro1 at CES today, and confirmed the leaked specs. They also announced plans to release 9 additional lenses within the next three years. Sadly, the usefulness of the official announcement ends there — there was no word on how much things will cost when they become available late February (the price will be announced later this month).

Update: The price of the camera, based on a briefly-online Amazon product listing, is rumored to be $1,700 for the body only.

The price on is a scam, and was pulled shortly after being placed. Some joker placed the ad for pre-orders with no official word on the actual price. The closest we have had to an official price is the one announced by the french magazine that leaked everything in the first place, and that purported a price for the body and 35mm lens kit at 1300 EUR, translating into ~$1660.

I would not be surprised if the figure did end up at $1700, but for the kit, not just the body. With the lenses rumored to be all in the neighborhood of ~$600, I’d place money on the body alone snagging $1199-$1299.

Argggggh! It seems you have to switch to the electric viewfinder for manual focus :( (that is if you want any focus confirmation) Ah well, at the predicted prices I guess you’re better off with a second hand m8/8.2 anyway… it’ll even gives you a 1.3x crop.

I like it, I like it a lot. Seems a really nice camera but the autofocus noise of the lens I saw on these vids is quite strange…
