While firmware updates aren't often anything too exciting, a recent patch from Leica actually provides some welcome quality-of-life upgrades.
While firmware updates aren't often anything too exciting, a recent patch from Leica actually provides some welcome quality-of-life upgrades.
Leica is expanding the native lens support for its L-mount SL-System cameras, the SL2 and the SL2-S, with the addition of the Summicron-SL 35mm f/2 ASPH and the Summicron-SL 50mm f/2 ASPH.
Leica is giving its SL2-S the "Reporter" treatment, outfitting the camera with a more resilient exterior to make it better able to resist extreme temperatures, shocks, dust, and water.
The idea of a Leica camera with image stabilization, a built-in EVF, Wi-Fi, 2 card slots, and endless more features may seem like a very foreign concept for legacy Leica shooters. However, this is exactly what Leica has made in the SL2-S.
Leica recently introduced its $2,795 Vario-Elmarti-SL 24-70mm f/2.8 ASPH lens, the latest zoom lens for L-Mount systems. It's not what most would call "cheap," but it certainly is inexpensive compared to the rest of Leica's lineup. But does that mean a dip in performance?
Leica has announced its version of the popular "desert island" lens in the Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-70mm f/2.8 ASPH., what it calls an "ideal lens with broad appeal," as it is capable across multiple disciplines from travel, studio, architecture, photojournalism, portraiture, and more.
Leica has announced a firmware update for the Leica SL2-S, which sees a number of new features and enhancements including more video record options, a waveform monitor, LUT support, and improved autofocus performance in both photo and video.
