Wildlife Photographer Adam Jones Takes Canon’s 7D Mark II Into the Wild for a Real World Review

When cameras get put through a review, it’s often done at a pixel-peeping level in a studio, where the lighting is consistent across the board and variables are few and far between. This is NOT one of those reviews.

When it came time to review Canon's new APS-C flagship, the 7D Mark II, DPReview reached out to professional wildlife photographer Adam Jones and asked him to take the camera out into the wild... literally.

Cracking Open the 7D Mark II, The Most Thoroughly Weather Sealed Camera I’ve Ever Seen

OK, I have to admit I really like the 7D Mark II. I didn’t want to because it wasn’t what I wanted. I wanted to see the new Canon chip foundry that would be cranking out high-resolution sensors. But despite wanting to hate the 22-megapixel APS-C camera, after a fairly short exposure to the autofocus system, I have to admit I like it. There’s just something about getting every shot in focus every time that’s appealing to me.

Check Out the Latest Rumored Specs for the Upcoming Canon 7D Mark II

It's safe at this point to say that a Canon 7D replacement is definitely on the way, and will almost certainly make its debut at Photokina. But whereas there's plenty of leaked info to corroborate this fact, very little more about the camera has come to light.

Still, some info is bound to come out and the spec list below is the most accurate information that has slipped through the few cracks left in Canon's anti-rumor shield.

Canon 7D Replacement Possibly Spotted at the World Cup

The desire for more info and leaks about Canon's upcoming EOS 7D Mark II (possibly not called that) is strong, and the image above is a good case in point. Spotted by a Northlight Images reader, the camera circled in red is always seen at the same spot on the pitch and is always covered up, despite the fact that every other camera is uncovered.

Rumor: Canon 7D Mark II Geared Toward Nature and Sports Photographers

Murmurings of an upcoming Canon 7D Mark II, which we first wrote about back in October, are starting to heat up. It was suggested that the camera, which may mark the merger of the 60D's and 7D's lines, was to offer a high continuous shooting rate. More recent reports seem to back up that particular spec, as we as offer some more info on who Canon is targeting with the camera.
