OpticalLimits 7.5/10
The Tamron is capable of delivering good sharpness at all relevant settings. This is especially true in the image center which is already superb at f/2.8 and beyond the resolution of the 42mp sensor used for testing.
-
The Tamron 35mm f/2.8 Di III OSD lens is a great little lens.
-
So outside of the somewhat disappointing speed of the autofocus, this is a very competent lens. [...] But is that enough to make the Tamron 35mm F2.8 OSD M1:2 worth choosing over competing 35mm lenses or in place of the Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 RXD zoom?
-
If you are on the market for a relatively simple but high quality lens like this for a reasonable price, then it does have to come highly recommended.
-
The Tamron 2.8/35 Di III OSD is a very sharp lens with good flare resistance and the unique feature of a 1:2 magnification. While it isn’t as compact as some competing primes it is still a lot smaller than any zoom covering 35mm and build quality leaves little to complain about.
-
The Tamron 35mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 is an excellent choice as a “wide standard” lens for Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras.
-
The new Tamron 35mm F/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 lens for Sony Alpha mirrorless cameras is something of a mixed bag.
-
As an everyday lens, the Tamron ticks all the right boxes. It’s small and lightweight, has refined handling and a tough, weather-sealed construction, along with a fairly fast f/2.8 aperture rating. It also delivers impeccable image quality, all at a very affordable price.
-
The Tamron 35mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 lens delivers excellent image quality and an all-weather build at a very attractive price.
-
If you are a beginner photographer looking for a compact prime lens to experiment with, the Tamron 35mm f/2.8 would be a great choice.
-
Pretty solid lens for three hundred and fifty bucks.
-
The lens also emits a clicking noise, which will probably be audible in videos if using the camera’s microphone. In summary, the Tamron 35mm F2.8 is an excellent lens, versatile and reliable. It is not without flaws but those are, for the most part, easy to manage.
-
Rating this lens as a whole, I think it's a great little package they put together at a fantastic price and therefore I give it four stars.
-
So really at this price point, it might be the best 35m f2.8 option for Sony.
