Reviewer Consensus

Strong

Sony ZV-E10 II is a capable, compact hybrid camera that improves upon its predecessor with a 26MP sensor, 10-bit video, and significantly longer battery life. While it excels as a vlogging tool, the lack of a mechanical shutter, in-body stabilization, and an electronic viewfinder may limit its appeal for some photographers.

Weighted from 39 reviewer scores

Pros

  • Responsive autofocus with real-time tracking and product showcase modes
  • Improved battery life and ergonomics with the larger NP-FZ100 battery and deeper grip
  • High-quality 10-bit 4K video recording with S-Log3 and S-Cinetone support
  • Compact, travel-friendly design featuring a fully articulating touchscreen

Cons

  • Lacks in-body image stabilization, forcing reliance on electronic stabilization with significant cropping
  • No electronic viewfinder, making outdoor composition difficult in bright light
  • Absence of a mechanical shutter limits flash sync speeds and introduces rolling shutter risks
  • Susceptible to overheating during extended high-resolution recording
  • Launch price $999 (USD)
  • Sensor 26MP APS-C CMOS
  • Video 4K 59.94p
  • Stabilization None
  • Burst 11 fps electronic

If you need long record times and you aren't always recording in a cool climate-controlled studio, you're gonna have to pay the extra money and get the FX30.

[T]he ZV-E10 II offers better auto-focusing, video performance and battery life than the original, but removes the mechanical shutter, costs significantly more at launch and mystifyingly doesn't include subject-detection, making it somewhat less appealing [...]

Thankfully, Sony has seen to correct pretty much every fault I had with the original model, and while the ZV-E10 II is still not the perfect all-rounder, it comes as close to vlogging camera perfection as I think you can get right now.

The compact Sony ZV-E10 II camera helps content creators without extensive tech knowledge produce pro-quality video and sound, but its rear display could be better.

The ZV-E10 II is a highly recommendable compact vlogging camera. Its diminutive size is deceptive, as it houses a number of key components and features that are shared with Sony’s pricier and more advanced APS-C cameras.

The second-generation Sony ZV-E10 is likely to equal its popularity as it includes some more sophisticated functions that could appeal to more professionally-orientated ‘content creators’ while retaining the main functions provided in the earlier model.

Between the Mark I and the Mark II, no-brainer, I go for the Mark II just for all the quality of life improvements, and if this is just going to be on tripods for life, even better.

So for $1,000 you can get the pocketable turnkey point and shoot style with a fixed lens or you can get the very, very powerful mirrorless camera because the fact that you can put any lens on this camera makes it way more powerful and way more versatile.

The Sony ZV-E10II is a stationary YouTube camera, nothing more, nothing less. It’s probably the best stationary YouTube camera at this price unless you need more advanced features.

This way, the Sony ZV-E10 Mark II is more than just the cheapest camera in the current lineup; more importantly, it’s a camera that will hold out for much longer as the user grows further as a photographer or videographer.
