- PetaPixel 8/10
Fisheye lenses have been very popular with videographers and filmmakers, and those capturing action sports will likely appreciate the fast and smooth autofocus.
-
If you’re in the former camp and want a really good one – this is a great example of the genre.
-
What Sony has got going on is they've brought out a very high quality fisheye zoom that gives you lots of flexibility, gives us great performance when it comes to autofocus, and the image quality is fantastic.
-
Sony did an unbelievable job of making this the right size in my opinion and doing the trade-off from 28, which is what the Canon does, I think is perfectly fine at 35.
-
Having a fish eye lens might not always be something that you are going to reach for, but like I said, it really can add that unique perspective that might make your photo stand out from another photographer, and maybe will help you get that editorial gig that you're looking for.
-
[I]t's a really nice lens, definitely a good one to consider, and lovely to see it as Sony's first E-mount fisheye lens, too.
-
For the rest of us, it just means this full-fledged fish eye zoom is a trivially compact lens to pack and bring.
-
I think this is really good image quality, sharpness, contrast, micro contrast, everything I would expect from a top-notch lens.
-
Optically, this thing is about the best there is in the ultra wide angle category.
