[T]he Sony 24 2.8 G is a solid choice for wide-angle photographers who value portability over the shallowest depth-of-field or smoothest rendering. It plays to its strengths, delivering sharp results even on the highest resolution bodies and fast reliable autofocus.
-
I think that the use case for this lens is extremely clear. Get it if you prioritize portability and build quality most of all. Travel photographers especially should give it very strong consideration.
-
The 24mm focal length is useful, and the f/2.8 aperture is ready to tackle the low light venues and create a nicely blurred background.
-
I was very pleased with the autofocus performance and general handling of the lens, though the miniaturized rings, buttons, and switches may prove challenging to operate when wearing gloves in colder weather.
-
It is a great little lens, I just wish it wasn't quite so expensive.
-
The list of assets is long, with several crucial points – we mean here especially a very good performance in the frame centre, including the maximum relative apertue, and an excellent performance against bright light, so difficult to achieve with such a wide angle of view.
-
A light and compact wide-angle, with superb sharpness and handling. What a delight to have such a light and compact lens that handles superbly and delivers excellent sharpness both centre and edge.
-
This lens is a great performer optically, being pin-sharp throughout virtually all of the frame, even when shooting wide-open at f/2.8.
-
The optical performance didn’t quite live up to the promise, however. It’s good, but not great, and the reliance on digital distortion correction is both unexpected and disappointing.
-
The diminutive Sony FE 24mm F2.8 G lens captures a wide angle view and doesn't cut any corners when it comes to construction.
-
It won’t take up much space in a bushwalker’s or for traveller’s backpack and won’t weigh the photographer down.
-
This is a compact Chinese-made full-frame fixed wide lens for all Sony mirrorless cameras. It's sharp, reasonably well made by today's lax standards, moderately priced and works very well.
-
[T]his would be the number one lens on my list to pair with the A7C, no question about it.
-
Excellent center sharpness, but uniformity is worse than expected. Users expecting tack-sharp results across the whole frame will not be satisfied.
-
If you're somebody video focused that's looking for the smallest possible lens and that's the biggest factor, well then I'd consider this lens; otherwise I might look elsewhere.
-
As an always-on lens, you basically can't get wrong with the 24mm.
-
[O]verall, I think this lens is a great lens. If you like shooting things consistently wide, then the 24mm is a great focal length.
